For blinking eye.. just make a new layer and gently brushed over the original eyes with her skin color..then animate it as usual.. at avatar size, its usually easy to fool peoples..
example:

For hand swaying its a little bit complicated to explain.. and I'm too lazy to make a tutorial >.<

Blown hair is easy, since it use only one tool .. liquify tool, but its quite hard to get a satisfying result .. you can also bug Riker to ask how he did his hair animation.

I wanted to make some avatars from videos I found on Nico Video and when I download them, they're .flv files as I expected. My question is, is there a reliable converter that can convert .flv files to .avi files so I can capture the frames in Virtual Dub?

I've already downloaded that program and tried it. But when I open the newly converted file in VDub, I get this error:

Are there any other good programs out there or does anyone understand what I can do to fix my issue? D:

ok I'm a total noob when it comes to animation and this must be really obvious since it's in no tutorial, anywhere (or at least, not that I've found)

so please, enlighten me - how do we add or make a frame in Image Ready?

D:

I just used the wrap transformation tool in CS2 plus lots of trial and error.
It's somewhat similar to this tutorial except I had to create the in between frames.

Its the same as animating the eyes =.=

A little exercise on your little grey cell is very good instead of waiting to be spoonfed.

Esentialy the same as the blinking eyes, just use the eye dropper to select the skin color that surrounds the mouth... really, it's not hard to guess how to do the trick once you know how to make the blinking eyes.

Follow the advice of KiNA, practice on Photoshop

Uhm.. Just wanna ask on what do u call the image in the left side of this sig, the one w/c blend w/ the bg

Spoiler for sig:

Or the one like a duplicate of your render in w/c they just blend in the bg that kinda acts like a shadow of the render..

BTW, thanks for the tutorials guys.. I'm so happy to make one using your tutorials..

Set the layer of the render you want to blend as "Overlay".

Although, the one you're showing seems to simply have the opacity of the layer decreased, if you set it as Overlay, the efect will be better

A new tutorial from me, handling light and such. Maybe lost focus somewhat, but I think it works.

Spoiler for 5th:

*sigh* this is such a simple question that Im almost ashamed to ask it BUT is there a particular method to creating a border where only two sides are covered? Like just the top and bottom or just the sides?

Here is what I do: New layer -> Fill with black -> Load Selection -> Modify and contract to desired size -> Press delete -> Move the selection and press delete where you don't want a border (up then down for border on the sides, left and right for over and under border.)

Of course, there might be an easier way, but I have this programmed by now
