New Windows?!

I've noticed that a couple of the Forum's functions open new windows instead of loading the page in the current one. "Profile" in posts does it, and I think "User CP" has done it once to me. (Although it isn't doing it now...)

Would it be possible to make them open in the same window? New windows are infuriating, especially to those who use a tabbed browser.

Wouldn't it be fine with a tabbed browser? With Mozilla, I've set it up so that CTRL-click on a link opens it in a new tab in the same window. Personally I do not find that annoying.

That's fair enough, but I don't want to have to CTRL-click every new link I come across for fear of it opening in a new window. I find it annoying to have to remember which links behave in which way. I would rather that I would have to do something special to open a link in a new window, such as "right-click->open in new window".

user_pref("browser.block.target_new_window", true);

Put that to your prefs.js or work yourself through about:config (without the underscore, vbulletin insists on putting it there!) and it should open those target=_blank links in the same window instead. Works at least on my Firebird 0.6.1.

The only problem I see with setting such a preference is that ALL links do not open in a new window unless you specifically do it yourself. Wait, that's what Megane wants, right?
