I was feeling pretty positive about this episode until they screw up this scene

Spoiler for pic:

what is it with this animation team that just loves to make awesome scenes from the manga become boring in the anime?

More like, they don't have the budget/effort to animate certain scenes so they take the easy way out whenever possible.

even a fast panning still frame with the exact look would be better than what they dished out.

lol I actually really liked how that scene came out~ we already know Medaka is strong, so it's expected that she'll just plow through them. I just really liked the added nonsensical humor to that scene.

I wish the anime adaptation stops in the right place and not dwelling too much into its original source. Its manga counterpart became insanely ridiculous after chapter 90++, when the story started to feel cliche and boring, not to mention the author loves abusing power up of each characters in overly exaggerated ways.

?? Not the whole time, no. In fact, Unzen only had a few lines speaking in numbers, and Medaka didn't use the number talk at all, they were just speaking regular japanese.

I'm confused what you mean.

They both spoke numbers in Japanese ("ichi ichi ni ni yon san" etc.), Unzen sister the whole time and Medaka only when talking directly to her. Were you expecting them to speak "one one two two four three four"?

...........ok. Unzen only said 'ichi ichi ni ni yon san' etc twice. then the rest of the time they were speaking in normal japanese. The lips didn't match the voices if you noticed, cause they were trying to represent they were speaking in the 'number talk' but they really weren't.

Why the heck would they be speaking in English?

edit: every line that had the Japanese subtitles underneath was spoken in regular Japanese, not the number talk. Which is why I said it was weird. But I guess you need to know Japanese to notice it? In the end it doesn't really matter. I was just pointing it out cause I thought it was kinda weird.

FYI I know Japanese, so I can tell the difference between numbers and actual words. They didn't sub the first line she spoke because her unique language was unknown to the audience at first. They then started to sub the number talk from that point so the audience actually understood what she was saying. Now unless there was another broadcast with a different audio track that didn't have number speak and we both watched different raws, something isn't right here.

EDIT: Hell, even the VA of Unzen's sister tweeted something along the lines of never having to recite so many numbers in her life. Can't find the link right now but yeah.

Holy cow! there ARE two versions! oO This confuses me greatly as I have no idea why they would do that, but that makes me happy because it sounds way cooler with them talking completely in numbers, and it was weird watching it as a read-along lolol

Well I'm happy now : D thankies~

two versions? what?

Did you actually *listen* to what they are saying instead of just reading the subtitles?

though if there is another version, i would like to see it myself as well.

................... =__= of course I listened to the audio
whatever. here's a link to nico nico that has both the versions combined. it's annoying as hell tho.
Spoiler for link:

oh, and you need to skip the beginning a bit. And you may need an account to watch it.

tho of course, a simple google search would suffice

There was the article stating that there will be 45 episodes and now, seeing Ajimu in the OP I can assume that it will maybe really get 48 or so episodes in total.

On the other hand Phi Brain is Sunrise original anime and I see this as the only reason why they're still pushing it season after season.
I know they're both JUMP manga, I follow JUMP pretty closely. Anyway NHK pay for the anime they air (not very well from what I heard when bakuman aired too lol), otoh everything else is Aniplex, Bandai etc paying to air their anime on tv, they make their money back selling blurays and other merchandise.

That's why you can't compare the two, NHK can air stuff like Phi Brain for 3 seasons when it's a commercial flop because it more than likely fulfills some education quota. Medaka Box airing on normal stations late at night otoh is just throwing money away for no reason.

The anime doesn't sell
The manga doesn't sell any more than it did prior to the anime (which pretty much means it's a dead man walking right now)

There is no reason to persist with this series unless this season has a big spike in sales. If it had a spike and them knowing that the next arc was what made the manga popular... they might do it than.

But I wouldn't hold my breath.
