More like being betrayed. A lot of people hoping for a resolution to the romance. I am the only seem to go for threesome ending so far. Hahahhahaha

On serious note, I do agree that romance is what drives this anime and giving such ending is getting kicked in the gut. However I do suspect and hope that the movie will answer the question.

HA! We got pwned Gundam Wing style! Hopefully the movie is at least Endless Waltz level.

Now R2's finale is my last hope for salvaging the mecha anime of the season.

The only real problem I had with the ending is that it was rushed, but we should have known that for a while now.

Everything before settling on the Vajra planet was fine. Everything after was on fast forward. The songs and mecha porn were fine. Things aren't as ridiculous as everyone made it out to be other than the rushing of the ending and lack of triangle resolution, but I can live with that.

you guys are seriously overreacting, it was pretty freaking epic asside from your love triangle resolution

i smell antimecha elitists who watched this for the romance steaming when they realize macross is not only based on love triangles, BUT MECHA ALSO.

You don't have to be a shipper to realize that not resolving a LT in a story that is carried by a LT is a no-no.

At least I got my mecha in... damn that was sweet. Unfortunately overshadowed by the lack of a conclusion to the LT.

twilight i seriously think the movie will be the overall resolution, i always thought an ova/movie would be perfectly apt as a capper ie. macross plus style.

the disappointments:

Alto bring a total a**hole
Ranka slapped Sheryl gave me the worst WTF moment
Battle Galaxy almost did nothing other than just standing there...
Sheryl's disease was cured in the lamest of way
The Vajra was not annihilated for good...(c'mon they are a living weapon! WHO NEEDS THEM!!!!!!!!)
Some lame songs were sung....(u know which songs i am referring to)

Lets hope so. There's a lot of issues that could use a touch up.

That's not really the problem, it's that Frontier has been making the triangle a bigger focal point than the other two, leaving it unresolved was a bold choice.

Whatever, it isn't a big deal with me, but I'd have loved to see the last 5 minutes or so extended so we could see the entire Frontier colony settling in to their new home, the other characters interacting and well, just a few more things than what we got.

God, stop using the word "epic", especialy in context with this ending. Escaflowne or Gurren Lagann, THAT could be called epic..

Besides that, I'm surprised at how people try to talk the ending good. Like the movie will resolve everything bla bla. Do you honestly believe that?.

i doubt it, i honest to god think this was planned as the movie to be a series end capper/ true end.

it makes sense pretty much in every way to make the movie a continuation.

I thought it was pretty good. I especially liked the remixes of the songs.. it was very well done.
And, yeah, I wasn't too thrilled about the whole unsolved love triangle and such... but I still thought it was a pretty decent episode. Love triangle thing slightly pissed me off

Spoiler for Argh !: I'm so disappointed : battles, vajra reversal, sheryl's disease, galaxy plot, colonization were totally rushed ! Even the songs were rushed ! The worst, IMO, is the LT whose resolution was totally messed up. Macross F was sold to us as a "galactic love story", everything was in place for a real ending and Kawamori definitely trolled us. Alto-hime prefers sky over Sheryl, over personified awesomeness ... Voilà, voilà... Kawamori, you lost your golden touch. Escaflowne is sooooo far away... __________________
