Heartwarming

I am looking for anime with a lot of heartwarming moments, like
CLANNAD ~After story~, ep18

I don't care what happens elsewhere, just there be at least one "crowning moment of heartwarming"

Most rom coms will have atleast one of those. I recommend:
Toradora! - Sweet and silly romcom
Cross Game - Romance and baseball!
Tegami Bachi - Friendship, heart and letter delivery!
Honey & Clover - Mature romcom
Bakemonogatari (Only episode 12 though) - Weird and avant garde comedy/harem.
Natsume's Book of Friends - A guy just trying to be nice.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - A girl who learns the value of the time she has.
Summer Wars (in my sig) - Crazy family fun.

Many of Studio Ghibli's films also have them.

Kimi ni Todoke- The series has many heartwarming moments starting from the very first episode. The series isn't as dramatic as CLANNAD, but it's an adorable love story. The second season comes out next year as well so if you enjoy the first you can expect some more heartwarming.

Manabi Straight- The ending after the credits of the last episode is extremely heartwarming, the rest of the series is pretty heartwarming as well, but the ending is the crowner.

Natsume Yuujinchou is the number one show i'd recommend. Kimi ni Todoke would follow it, along with Aria the Animation (and it's sequels).

Will second Letter Bee as well.

Seconded. If Natsume Yuujinchou can't bring a lump to your throat, I'm not sure any anime could.

My thoughts:
I've said this before, and I'll say it again. The reason why I liked this, and is my favorite anime movie is because it follows well on story, but at the same time doesn't emphasize too heavily on plot. It's not an "unrealistic" anime in the sense that it doesn't have epic fighting sense or have the main character be living in an alternate universe ((Yeah I'm talking about Black Rock Shooter LOL) Although, Black Rock Shooter does fall under your request, and fits quit nicely. I recommend that as well. I'll spoiler a summery below).
Spoiler for Black Rock Shooter ANN Plot Summary (as mentioned above):

Also, another good one is Summer Wars.

Aria is the most heartwarming series I know. If you like slice of life genre, you might like it.

My nominees would include Cross Game, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Dennou Coil, Kure-nai, Noein, and Bartender, for a start. Props for Natsume Yuujinchou and Summer Wars, too. Chi's Sweet Home can be heartwarming at time as well.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 left me depressed for weeks. It's definitely touching and very emotional but I wouldn't consider it particularly heartwarming. Great series though.

I second Kimi ni Todoke. It's very easy to identify with the characters and since it has got many happy moments, it'll definitely make you smile. It's also not overly lovey-dovey unlike many other romance series, but it's mostly about friendship and overcoming your own fears.

You kind of hit the heartwarming jackpot there with ep18 of After Story. I'd suggest ef- A Tale of Memories as a good romance anime with several heartwarming moments. There's a second season ef - A Tale of Melodies but that's significantly darker than the first season.

It's rare when I think that age matters in evaluating artistic material, but our differing views on Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 might be one case.

Spoiler for TM 8.0; Cross Game; Dennou Coil:

In a thread about heart warming anime there is one that shall not miss IMO: Binbou Shimai Monogatari - about two sisters who manage every day life without their parents. Their troubles, tribulations, and funs. Heart warming

I rather call FMwS "comedy then tearjerker" but interesting suggestion.

I went through my animelist and would suggest the following 3 as starters:

Asatte no Houkou
Fruits Basket
Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora ("Hantsuki")

There are quite a few of others (including some of the ones recommended in the posts above) but you can give those a try first to see if they fit your taste. I would recommend you to start out with Hantsuki, that is a definite must-watch in this genre. Btw, since you watched CLANNAD, I'd assume that you had watched AIR and Kanon already.

I think ''Lamune'' would be great for you. The entire series is basically a heartwarming moment :-D

Tho I didn't cry as I did on CLANNAD after story episode 18 :-)
