Suggestions based on my anime likes
Hey guys, the main reason I signed up is because I like anime, but I'm EXTREMELY picky.
Currently finishing up Claymore and going to read the Manga, I loved it. Watching: s-CRY-ed Watched Claymore (finished) Gantz (finished) Death Note (finished) Inuyasha (finished/ with final arc) YuYu Hakusho (finished) Air Gear (finished) Elfen-Lied (finished) Seen and it was Meh or Didn't Really Like: -Fate/Stay Night, saw 2-3 episodes, was not my thing -Full Metal Alchemist, some episodes good, others not really - Case Closed, liked it for the beginning but it tedious soon after the first season or so - Gundam Series - Hunter x Hunter - Shaman King In Between Like/Dislike: -Bleach, loved some seasons, hated others...the early and that spanish saga were pretty good, haven't watched any recents -Ruroni Kenshin, could never get into it -One Piece -Naruto Shippuden (watching, reading Manga mostly) So based on what I wasn't that into, post links or mini-bios to help me out? Key Notes: Good Action Based Story Fighting (like actual fights) Blood, gruesome stuff is nice (don't mind over the top lol) Mystery is also good thing, don't mind that I will be very grateful for anyone who helps! I am new to forums, so if I did wrong by posting, just let me know. Lots of reading and rules hah. Last edited by xl_Legit_lx; 2010-07-26 at 10:54. |

I think it is almost safe to say we have completely opposite tastes, lol. So my favourites' list shouldn't be much appealing to you. However, you seem to enjoy samurai themed animes, in which case I suggest Samurai 7, Ninja Scroll, Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan, Sengoku Basara, Shigurui, and Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto.
Although if generally Feudal does it for you (which would probably be the only thing we have in common heh), then you HAVE to check Seriei no Moribito, and Basilisk ! |

History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi - I highly recommend that you read the manga, as it's just brilliant. The anime is very good aswell. Full of excellent fights and hilarious comedy. It also has one of the funniest characters in it; The Death God of Muay Thai.
Change 123 - Note: This is currently just manga - there is no anime adaption. Once again, this is full of awesome fights, with some mystery and a lot of comedy. |

Based on the info you have given...
Ghost Hunt - it isn't action but it has mystery all around it and is really good. What I do reccomend is not to judge it by the 1st arc aka first 3 episodes and take a look at arc 2. First arc might just seem deceiving. My favorite one is per-last one with bloody labirithm since it is also one of the darkest arcs. But arc 2 is quiet creepy as well. Ga-Rei Zero - kinda similar to Claymore, some people say it has similarity to Teresa's arc because of the whole sister thing going on as well as tragedy that connects them. It has a swordmanship action with some additions and it is quiet gore. I'm sure you'll like it. You don't seem to be in shooting animes but if you ever will decide to give it a try, go for Phantom: Requiem for the phantom. It has good action, heave and dark feeling to it. Characters are well developed and they manage to drag you in their depression. The anime starts with a guy who had lost his memory and was forced to become an assasin. The one who teaches him is the famouse assasin Phantom who is a female. Now back to your list: Have you ever tried to watch Mecha shows? If no, then you give a try to watch Code Geass. It has some good action and in comparison to other action animes, the majority of fights here are well planed and have tactic. You might also give a try to D.Gray man. It has action, well developed characters and nice story. At some point might seem similar to Bleach but is much better. Inuyasha has quiet a lot of action in it but is also a long series like D.Gray man. Some nice characters and drama are included. Toaru Majutsu no Index and Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, it has action, humour, some dark feel in some episodes and females play a bigger role here.

For fighting, try Elemental Gelad (Eerementar Gerad), Berserk, Rental Magica, and Kiba. Rental Magica and Berserk are more serious animes, while Elemental Gelad has some romance in it. Kiba is just badass all around, you could say. Main character gets annoying occasionally, though.
EDIT: You may also want to try Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It's not a sequel, but instead a remake. You may like it more than the original.

Based on your likes/dislikes, I suggest you watch the following series:
History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi (awesome fighting/martial arts + lots of humour, what more could you want?) Baki the Grappler (again a great martial arts anime) Blue Gender (if you like mecha) Higurashi (solely for the mystery) Code Geass (if you really liked Death Note, you'll enjoy this one as well) Samurai Champloo (one of the best samurai animes I've seen) Samurai Deeper Kyo (again a nice anime with sword fights) Seirei no Moribito (not really sure if it's your kind of thing) I'll think about it and if I remember some other names, I'll come back. |

Why not try Sengoku Basara? It has it's fair share of action and story.
For action/mystery, try Ergo Proxy. I also say Code Geass, but it's awfully holey in the second season. (To the right people, it's 'holy'.) How about Technoxlyze? If you want action and just lots of blood with a story that deserves more love, try Strait Jacket. Hope that helped. |

Shadow Skill TV + OVA (OVA had different tone to TV)
X: The Movie (There is also a TV series, not sure how that compares in tone) Samurai X (the Rurouni Movies/OVAs, they had a very different tone to the TV series) Lighter Fighting Anime: Himawari Ranma 1/2 If you liked Yu Yu Hakusho you may like Hunter x Hunter, Law of Ueki, Get Backers, One Piece, Shaman King, Flame of Recca, Bleach Also I'm just about to start Katanagatari and that has a feudal theme. Others that may fit basd on hearsay: Fist of the North Star, Saiyuki, Hajime no Ippo, Tenjho Tenge, Air Gear, Air Master, Ayane's High Kick, Juushin Enbu. Noir (if like that then also Gunslinger Girl) Witch Hunter Robin (and if like that then also Wolf's Rain, Hellsing) |
