I guess I could put this on my list. Urin's (I hope they don't pronounce it as urine, that sounds gross) voice is cute! Horie Yui FTW!
By the way, because of this, I have a new story idea now...only it involves Atlantis and fairies and America. |

A (heavily watermarked) preview of the OP appeared recently on the website. "violet" is a nice song, and the visuals are pretty sweet.

Yeah, it was decent enough, though nothing that particularly excited me. I wasn't expecting both of the mermaids to be quite so airheaded though. Or Urin to be quite as much of a raging racist. Production was about what you'd expect from Zexcs these days, although I expected the art to be a little crisper from the promos. Music was very atmospheric, if you like that kind of thing. Pianos everywhere. The plot didn't really go anywhere this episode until the last minute or two though, so *shrug*

Very attractive and atmospheric. I enjoyed every note of the piano music. The outfits are amazingly skimpy and form-fitting, as passers-by in the anime kept noticing. I liked the watercolor/wash backgrounds.
To say nothing happened is not quite true. We got introductions to the setting and several characters, one major event, and another major event about to happen. But everything was certainly in a somewhat ARIA-like slow motion. Nice for those of us who like that feeling. Maybe this will have enough plot to draw me on, as ARIA for some reason didn't. The voices were just okay, for me. I enjoyed hearing Kotobuki Minako (Tsumugi in K-On) as Kanon the land girl. But neither she nor Asumi Kana nor Horie Yui seemed anything special to me here. I liked marble's work singing the OP.

Only got interested in watching this when I heard Satou Jun'ichi was involved. Wasn't disappointed. Same relaxed atmosphere that I loved about ARIA. ^^ Tenuous as the source material may be, I'll be looking forward to seeing where this goes.
... though I did expect somewhat more sinister music when The Cloud of Ultimate Doom descended upon the island.

Watched episode 1, and it didn't disappoint.
It may not be the top show of the season and some may even find it a bit slow, but slice-of-life fans will certainly love this. Directed by Sato Junichi, the atmosphere of the episode is very soothing with beautiful animation and music. IMO it is as good as Aria (another Sato work btw) on the storytelling side and is even a bit better on the technical side. Maybe being backed by the gigantic pachinko industry translates into a larger budget? Spoiler:
Anyway, I just hope that they will make it more of a slice-of-life story and maintain the Aria-esque atmosphere, instead of turning it into a generic magical girl show. |
