Actually, I disagree. This episode was anything BUT comical. In fact, I consider it a KEY chapter, with a major turnaround.

This is the first time that I can remember in this manga that Oga's demonic power-up was NOT merely funny. It was frightening. Oga is gradually losing it, and things are turning from funny to serious.

After the battle is over, Oga is still looking very much out of it (didn't happen like this before), and the reaction of his comrades mirror the development.

Hilda is eyeing him closely. Her goal has been to nurture and unleash Oga's demonic side all the time, and she's obviously succeeding. Furuichi, the rest of the delinquents and the girls are looking disturbed, almost frightened. And it takes some smart move from Izuma to get the situation under control again.

The key person, the way I see it, is going to be Aoi. She knows now that Beelzebub is no normal kid, and that something is amiss. I think she's going to become the counter to Hilda, and she'll try to fight for Oga's human side, just like Hilda is trying to push his demonic one. We can see her eavesdropping on the bottom of the stairs, and she's looking pretty determined.

For me, a huge Aoi shipper, this is a very welcome development.

Very much looking forward to the next chapters

Good chapter. Things look like they're going to get interesting and I'm wondering just how much of that conversation Aoi heard. She's obviously aware that the fight wasn't a staged light show (she actually has a brain in her head, I see).

I don't think she's heard anything yet, though you do have a point that Aoi is aware of the fight in the gym, and she is looking to find out more about it. I actually hope this is leading to her learning the truth.

Really like that the demon side of the story is coming into play again, and going by that last page, looks like it's here to stay. Next few chapters should be awesome.

Will he step up to stop the fight or watch it till the end and let his mentor do as he pleases.

Hehe I liked the bit with that lass joking about Aoi-chan "Maybe she finally went to tell Oga how she feels about him" is quite a funny "joke"

Well it's probably say to say this geezer at the end is one bad ass mofo, altho I wonder if he has that quirky clumsy, happy go lucky attitude that down plays his bad arsery.
Few ways you can tell the guy is one bad ass mofo is
1. He wears sandals
2. He is unshaven
3. He smokes

Minor quibble about the scanlation:

On page 9, Aoi says "Yappari _ano ko_ futsuu jya nai", which the scanlator translated to "he really isn't normal". However, "ano ko" actually means "this kid", and I'd find it strange to have Aoi adress Oga this way, especially after this outburst of power. In my opinion, she's talking about Beelzebub, not Oga.

So, the way I see it, Aoi already is one step further in understanding what's going on here.

Great chapter. Oga looked badass with his expanded Zebub mark. So, Aoi is pretty close to finding things out. The remark made by the horseman leader is very interesting to say the least. Does he have demon powers? My guess is no, but he knows of them that's for sure. It had a good cliffhanger at the end, too. Don't recognize the guy though. Have we seen him before?
