Just finished watching the raw for this show. I thought is was done very well and still am enjoying the anime's take on this series.

Spoiler for Episode 19:

Looks like Fringe's death scene is in this episode but in flashbacks by Jade. The animators kept the scene where Tear and Luke meet Anise, which I thought was fun because of what Anise was doing at that time. They combined the Ion abduction with the meeting of the replicas, which was fine but I had hope to have seen Fire Bronc. The scene with Arietta asking the group to help save Ion was done very well, as it shows how loyal she is to him instead of Van. On an interestin note, anyone that has found Anise to be detestible or irritating are going to use some scenes from this episode to really rag on her character. THe rendition with Ion's scene was also done nicely as it kept up in similarity with what was seen in the game. Looks like next episode is going to be the duel with Arietta and Anise, along with Mohs getting his "reward" from Dist.

Pretty good episode, I guess, except I have to wonder if there will be a point to this replica army in the future, considering they all go down at once when Tea sings. Because if there is no point, then that part of this episode's meaning is... what...

The rest of the episode was, maa... Ion dying and somehow removing the evil something from Tea. And then Anise crying over the whole thing saying it is her fault. Yes, it is. Well, I feel sorry for... Ani... I mean, Ion.
Well, to an extent, I guess I feel sorry for Anise to a point, getting tricked into having a debt and being paid by Moss and then having parents taken hostage. Maa~, to think this is the person who was saying those horrible things to Luke after he accidentally caused a tragedy. Ii zaama

-Why was that shogun in the chair...? He gets injured while sitting? He got injured, somehow crawled back to the chair, and waited until he died...?
Rather... who was this guy again...?

-Recently, lots of fainting in this anime...

-For some reason, the replica army was more comedic than tragic... Must be the expression on some of the faces.

-Crystal thing shattered...?

-Arietta... How slow are you...? Rather, poor girl, soon to find out Ion died because Anise brought him to Moss who used him to read the score which caused him to die.
Well, naturally Parents>>Friends/allies, after all.

Preview: Moss?! Turning into a lava golem or something... More importantly, Arietta's past with Ion...?

And finally the Anise character is more or less done, except one less part.

And yes, there's a point to the replica army. Hope to see at least some portion devoted towards the impact due to the existence of the replica army.

is it just me or ion obeys the enemies and didnt resist when they ask ion to do something bad

such as

van ask him to rmeove the sephiroth?
mohs asked him to read the score

and ion just do watever they says without thinking they are bad or good

Finally watched the episode 19(I was waiting since I played that part in the game)

Spoiler:

In ALL the game, I just cried in the scene where Anise hugs Luke and scream and cry, that is my favorite too


There's no way I could ever hate Anise, and I love her and arieta became one of my favorites too after it

too bad that she dies in the next episode, but according to the preview I'll have a chance to see chibi Arietta S2

And, oh, I was sure that there's a special cd called Tales of The Abyss Another Story(or something like) that talks about Arietta's past. Can it be that episode 20 will show the contents of the cd?

BTW, I didn't notice that the images from the ending have changed(I never watch the ending), can someone tell me if there's just two versions of the ending or if there's more, please?S2

^yup, the scenes for the ED changed since a few episodes ago. Made me excited to see everyone with their alternative costumes from the game, although there is little hope for them to wear that in the actual anime.

Well I'm sure he didn't just do it without thinking. But really he cares too much about Anise to let her parents get killed over him refusing. He was probably planning on taking the miasma out of Tear from the beginning so the personal cost to himself for reading the score wasn't an issue. Don't think we can say much about reading the score here since we didn't see what happened before he started to read. But yeah guy is pretty passive. Probably comes from having so sense of self worth.
