Alibaba is now officially the butt monkey of Magi. Every time he thought he has a chance to be awesome, he just got trolled by friends/author -.-
I don't know. The mangaka does like to troll him but this was pretty vanilla imo. Even if he couldn't fire his trump card, he still got to be pretty awesome for most of the chapter.
The final panels were hilarious. I don't mind Alibaba getting his thunder stolen, he still got to look pretty damn cool beforehand. And it's better if he doesn't reveal his trump card so soon.
The universe will be balance if Alibaba can get a cute shotaro like Kouha to fawn over him . His swag is nowhere near the level of Kouen and Sindbad yet his luck is tiny like a pebble.

How many (named) characters are actually in love with those two and not just fanboys/girls?
I personally rather have Kougyoko become his wingman. Well see anything between them is still inconclusive. Oh and he already has Aladdin fawning over him
after marathoning (?) ALL of the anime episodes (hey, it spiked my interest on the manga... and most of you guys did too in the anime thread ),
then after reading non-stop aaall of the manga in two days
...and I don't get to read it for another month!! Dx!

Just read the first two chapters of Adventures of Sindbad.
Chapter 1
Spoiler:
The first chapter is when Sindbad is only 3 years old.
Paltevia is celebrating the victory of war, defeating a much larger nation to build its empire.
His father, Badr, is a war hero who lost one of his leg in the war.
Gold are thrown around to the citizens as reward for the victory, and Badr earned particularly large sum... but he refuses to collect any of it.
Even though he contributed in the war as a soldier, and the sole survivor of men who were drafted to the war in his village, he is a pacifist sternly against the fever of warfare.
He leaves the bar without accepting any of the gold, and sets out to the sea on a boat for fishing, only to find his three year old son hiding in his boat.
The two are caught in a severe thunderstorm, and Badr cannot find the way home. The infant Sindbad points out a direction to his father, with conviction in his eye of his choice. By following his route, the boat safely leaves the storm. Badr remembers when Sindbad was born...
The night Sindbad was born, nearby volcano erupted and the massive maelstroms blocked the path on sea. The just-born Sindbad pointed the direction through the chaos to guide his parents to safety.
Badr is convinced his son is a chosen one to change the path of this country and the whole world, and guide them to the right direction.
Chapter 2
Spoiler:
Army of Paltevia are on hot pursuit of a spy with a scar on his face.
In desperate attempt to lose them, the man dives off a cliff into the ocean...
Two years have passed since chapter 1, and Sindbad is now five years old.
His mother sends him on an errand to deliver lunch to his father. Badr just finished a fishing trip, and welcomes his son and the lunch at the shore.
Sindbad wants to set sail with his dad, but his dad thinks he is still too young to fish out in the ocean.
Group of thugs from the village shows up, telling Badr he has no right to be fishing here, and he is a traitor.
Badr does not wish to support the ongoing war, which is depleting the nation of its resources and the nation quickly fell into poverty.
The nationalists of Paltevia became obsessed with supporting the war, believing victory of the war their only salvation, and started persecuting those who do not support it. Badr doesn't fight back, letting them beat him to a pulp. Young Sindbad doesn't understand why his dad, who is perfectly capable of handing the thugs despite missing a leg, doesn't fight back. A very Luffy-Shanks moment.
As Sindbad acts grumpy at the dinner, his mother asks her husband to change his ways. She can't stand seeing her husband and son being bullied as traitors, and asks him to serve the country again and give up the fishing boat to the country to plead mercy. He replies to her the boat's been destroyed by the villagers already, so that's not even possible. As he tries to convince her, young Sindbad comes back to the room... telling his parents he found an injured man.
The family nurse the man back to health. The man with a scar on his face tearfully thanks the young Sindbad and calls him his savior.
The chapter ends as Sindbad tells the man he's a crybaby despite his hulkish appearance.
The man doesn't look like Hinahoho like the earlier reports claimed. He doesn't look like any of the eight generals in fact.
The scar goes over his nose.
He could be related though.
I'm surprised the story started this far back in the past. I thought it would more or less pick up where the one shot left off. Sinbad's father seems like an interesting character. He reminds of Thors from Vinland Saga.
Now those are some interesting spoilers. Thanks Aohige.
Spoiler:
What I like best about the Sinbad story so far is the very One Piece-like vibe I'm getting from these summaries. I mean, Sinbad's father being a stubborn pacifist in times of war, refusing to fight back against those who persecute him..... as already pointed out, it shares similarities to the relationship between Luffy and Shanks. And I'm interested in this scar-faced man, too. If he's not one of the eight generals, then I wonder what role he'll have in Sinbad's life....
Yunan described him as a 'miracle' and from what happened at Sindbad's birth, it sounds like he has the potential to either become a walking calamity or a saviour.
If the manga catches up to the Oneshot, wonder if Baal dungeon will be changed to cover 3-4 chapters?

Yes, both chapters were in the same issue.
Spoiler:
Badr's lifestyle and belief does resemble Thors strongly, as well as the fact of being a father.
His easy-going character, comedic nature, and gentle personality strongly resembles Shanks from One Piece.
His appearance is very adult Sindbbad-like.
It's like a character design doomed to die for the plot progression.
