where can i find Subbing Software?

Easiest resource is doom9.org.

You might find more discussion in the Fansub group. There are many applications outthere and VirtualDub (free) and SSX are the most common. I know that there are more out there but cannot remember offhand since I do not use those other apps.

I'd recommend Sub Station Alpha for the making subs part, ^what they said for the adding subs to video part.

Check out sabbu when the site is back, too. It's a nice alternative to SSA for certain tasks.

Although, isn't that meant to have some problems? I only use it for retiming .ass karaoke anyway ^^

Yeah, Medusa is not too hard to use. I learned a bit of timing using it.
Having no prior experience in subbing software, I gave Sabbu a try and found it a bit confusing but Medusa seemed easier to learn for me (not that I do anything remotely complicated like karaoke and that kind of stuff)

If it's hardsubbed, then it's nearly impossible. You may be able to do something with logo remover filter in virtualdub or avisynth. Either way, it's like painting over the subs with Photo Shop. I don't recommend doing this.

If it's soft-subbed (e.g. avi softsub, ogm, mkv, etc), then you just need virtualdubmod to extract just the video and audio stream.

I use kryptolus' Sabbu with a combo of notepad and other minor stuff. And when those bugs get fixed SubStation Alpha won't be the "king of the hill" for long.

i wont use OGG and MKC or what ever those option on option off subtitles.

because if I cant use them, chances are most people in the fansub community cant use them.

i've tried to watch one. it worked with this one anime i was watching.

Mudusa should not be used to time :P just the typsetting functions for like karaoke ssa

and there are some tutorials and such online.

If it's hardsubbed, then it will be more trouble than you'll ever want to go through.

If it's softsubbed, then VirtualDubMod is about the only software you'll need. http://virtualdubmod.sf.net

Heh, the best program you can use is IRC.

Find out the group's public channel, and go let them know (politely), what mistakes they've made. Most groups welcome constructive criticism.

If you think Sabbu is a bit confusing, you should send me feedback so I can make it less confusing. I will try to make it easier to learn for new users.
