And did the ending theme remind anyone else of Megaman 1's ending? The 'main characters scrolling to the left and meeting up with the rest of the main cast' angle is the same.

Hmm, I think she still has her flaws. Though, if she does a complete 180 next ep, I'm calling that a massive shift in tone

I think I've seen that before in other anime, it might actually be common, though it would be nice if Vivid Op took a page from Megaman, Vivid Blue did remind me of Megaman and I am so having withdrawals since Capcom decided to toss that series by the wayside

I have been waiting for the next shower scene, we've only had Akane and Momo, Wakaba and Himawari need to take a shower too because I'm in the belief that all girls in anime need to take at least one shower. Good heavens.... how did this go from a father revenge story to a science experiment to a yuri hentai anime?

That's the vibes I'm not liking though, what is with girls being experimented on in anime? Why is it girls make better test subjects? I hope that's not the case with Rei, it's already been a full day since I watched the new preview and that keeps sticking in my head. But who knows, it might actually be a dream sequence like the above pic looks to be. It sure fits the massive tone shift though

Spoiler for Episode 5 spoilers:

So, there was a mood shift, but as I expected it was more like Nanoha than anything else. Rei is obviously coerced in doing someone else bidding for reasons that aren't made completely clear for now. The episode goes in great lengths to show Rei is a Good Girl (TM) and Akane is going to keep trying to make her a friend.
Little Alone presence this week, and that fit the idea.
Also Akane's mother appears again, although not for long.

Well, turns out it's not another one of the Vivid Keys as some feared. Rei has her own old-fashioned skeleton key, which glows blue for some reason. No idea on what it's supposed to do yet, though it's clear it's a memento from her past.

Also, Rei kinda fails at infiltration even with her guns and wire-fu, though good to see that the Manifestation Engine's security isn't that helpless, with all the drones around (the infiltration form the bulk of this week's action). As to this week's Alone... what Alone?

Though at least it shows that the other girls don't need Akane to transform.

Rei Kuroki is a young girl who lives alone. One reason she may hides to everyone is that she is coerced to someone about a mysterious affair. One day, while she's spying on the Manifestation Engine, she suddenly falls over as she wakes up under Akane's arms. During the Alone's attack, she's struggled in many ways according to the talking bird she listens to. Despite the warnings she gives to Akane, she may learn the value of friendship for what it is. The mood shift is so subtle, it was filled with both cuteness and seriousness at the same time. I'm happy to see Akane and Momo seeing their mother alive, and Rei is the jewel focus of the episode. Though her shower scene is censored, it was nice to see her trying to learn the virtue of life as Akane may suggests. Too bad the preview wouldn't appear as usual, but maybe I'll discover more of that next time.
