Well, I agree that they aren't as creepy as some stuff in anime. They even have some decent chemistry. And Kotetsu isn't the type of guy to take advantage.

I wouldn't hate a well done May December romance.

It's just... you know... like half the T&B merchandise is targeted at fujoshi, right?

The fujoshi might not be so happy about such a development, so I doubt the writers will go there.

Well , I don't think Kotetsu need give up on his MC position just because he isn't active hero. This is of reason why I mentioned Kaede being New Tiger as it would allow Kotetsu being deeply involved with hero industry. I would say his contribution was never about super power in first place.

Sunrise opened a website on Friday to announce that the previously announced new anime project in the Tiger & Bunny franchise is titled Double Decker! Doug & Kirill. The anime will premiere this year.

The official website also revealed that this "buddy series" anime is "one part" of the new Tiger & Bunny anime series project. The series will follow a two-man detective team: one who is a veteran and one who is a rookie.

Update: While a previous version of this article stated that the anime is a "spinoff" of Tiger & Bunny, the announcement of the anime did not specifically state that the anime is a spinoff, nor did it state if it takes place in the same universe. The announcement uses the phrase "original anime series," and so we have removed mention of it being a spinoff series.

So it's a case of "Let's copy the exact same formula with even more obvious fan pandering, it can't go wrong!", huh? OK, I'm being negative but I mean look at that image.

Of course I'll check it out when it airs, but I'm not holding my breath for it living up to the original show... but then I haven't been holding my breath since it was revealed that much of the original creative staff is not returning, including Satou Keiichi who I think was the main source of the charm of Tiger & Bunny.

(Also, am I the only one bothered by how the two characters seem like they're from different shows? Maybe they'll come together better in the actual animation, but this image is like they just copy-pasted two random characters together. I've been having this feeling with B: The Beginning too, but there at least the overall color scheme is the same for everyone.)

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. I mean they'll probably work within the grand scheme of the setting when factoring in the color scheme for a lot of the previous characters, but yes, in this picture they don't quite work. But, that could of course be intentional. The rookie looks likes someone who really wanted to be a Next super hero. And the veteran looks like he's already fed up with it all.

It could be intentional, but they just look so weirdly disconnected in every possible way. But yeah, Doug looks just so absolutely done with everything. XD

There's some more art on the Twitter channel, these two just look... totally unbalanced. If it's on purpose it's working.

By the way the cast was also announced and Doug, is going to be voiced by Mikami Satoshi, who just happens to be the Japanese voice of Benedict Cumberbatch.
