TV anime 'Juushinki Pandora' (Unit Pandora) coming for Spring 2018.
Director is Shoji Kawamori. Studio will be Satelight.

Plot/Premise:

On the day the Xianglong (Shanron or Soaring Dragon) Crisis occurred in 2031, Leon Lau was right in the middle of the unfolding events. The Quantum Reactor, a next generation energy device developed to replace dwindling environmental resources, exploded and unleashed an unknown energy. As a result, the global environment changed overnight. Living things (besides humans) and machines each underwent their own unique evolution, and the B.R.A.I. (Biological Revolutionary of Accelerated Intelligence) entity in particular evolved and came into being. As a result, humanity was driven to the brink of extinction. Humans fight the B.R.A.I with M.O.E.V. (Multi-purpose Organic Evolution Vehicle) variable units.

"The Next" official website redirects to this one, so they are the same. Which tells us this one is gonna be 26 episodes long (unless something changed)

Then again I enjoyed Macross Delta, so right now his stocks are pretty good in my books.

Oh, so this is the new Kawamori anime. Looks pretty good, although the main mecha with the weird wing back pack reminds me a lot of the Aquarion Evol mech. Now I just hope this isn't going to be as boring as Aquarion Logos.

The only thing I'm iffy about from the very beginning is Touyama as, what it sounds like, a tsundere imouto. I like Touyama and all, but I'm not a big fan of her tsundere voice. Heck, I'd even take KugiRie over her, so that's saying something.

Can someone move away from this stereotype, please?

I mean, for a long time now, Sniper characters have to be either the womanizing moodmakers (eg. Kurz Weber ~FMP!~ & Lockon Stratos ~Gundam 00~) or the silent type (eg. Saito ~GITS: SAC~ & Luke ~Garo: Vanishing Line~). Can't we have other characteristics other than those two general traits?

The anime will then premiere on television on Tokyo MX on April 4 at 11:30. The anime will also air on WOWOW and BS11 on April 6, and on MBS on April 7.

Netflix will premiere the anime earlier on March 29, and Netflix will exclusively stream the anime in Japan. The video also revealed that a "worldwide release" on Netflix is also in development.

Episode 1: Well, this was... bland as hell.

Very, very bland and boring, and not even pretty to look at.

I never realized before that this is a Chinese coproduction - that explains all the Chinese names, but it might also explain why this doesn't feel like a Kawamori anime. (Hell, it feels less Kawamori than Aquarion Logos.) I really wouldn't be surprised if Kawamori was more or less just a window dressing here... I was set to follow this to the end but if it's going to be like this I'm not going to waste my time.
