I would say he is not getting stick for being a Specialist Persay. If someone was specialized in killing demons I doubt anyone would give them lip. He is a specialist at killing goblins which while might be a threat for low level parties should be no problem for a team of silvers.

The high rank folks look down for him for only killing goblins and the low rank folks ridicule him for using low quality equipments.

Plus him going solo and having zero social skills just made his reputation worse amongst his fellow adventurers.

That said, it's funny how he has bards embellishing his tale eventhough i know he is a hero to the commoners in the frontier

GS was a silver ranked adventurer, thus he's famous to a certain extent.

Back to HEA case, she became an adventurer partly because she got bored of the elven forest. So all the while she has been living in elven forest which seems to be secluded from the rest of the world (common trope).
In one of the video game, the "god" who was working with humans for something "big" was impressed by how much they achieved within a few years where his kin would have to take a century or a decade to accomplish that, and one of the humans said that they have short lifespan so they can't afford to waste too much time to do something, and his kin was right to put a leash on mankind or else mankind will grow out of control very quickly or something.

I guess "short lifespan" is the main driver for humanity in the fiction to become one of the major super power that can rival other powerful race despite being a weaker.

He solves the common people's worries on the frontier.
The bard could talk about dragons and demons but I doubt the villagers know or care about those atm.

Also I will (probably) not write such a long post for this series again. It was just a special exception for this first episode to add my own 5 cents, considering it has that whole "controversy" surrounding it (if you can even call it that).
I found that the characters panicked a bit too much, like how come none of them tried to swing their rods around to hold off the swarming goblins?
I once read a isekai manga in which, once the characters who had gotten stuck in this world had encountered their first group of enemies, most of them couldn't do anything because of their psyche that they would being harming or even taking another living being's life.

This is something that came to mind while I was watching the first episode, and that helped to justify their behavior. But most people have not read that series and won't come to that same conclusion.

It could be, as likely noted somewhere above, that the writers were trying to show how badly rookie and/or overconfident adventurers can lose it when expectation is dashed on the rocks of reality. Whether or not this was overdone is a debate I won't get into.

That sounds like Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash, which I'll have to check out at some point.

They did. And it ended badly for them.

Seems pretty justified. They were a group of green wet behind the ears rookies. They believed their combined abilities were more than enough for a group of goblins despite being on their home turf.

The rookie swordsman had a sword, but he didn't know how to properly wield it. The mage was a talented spellcaster from a prestigious school but had never seen real combat. The rookie swordsman talked about chasing off goblins from his village before, figuring this would be easy. But there were so many, plus they used the totems to misdirect them and ambush them by surprise. They were not prepared for that.

They did.
priestess was swinging her rod trying to help the wizard.
after wizard was stabbed, warrior rushed in and swung his sword wildly.

Only the priestess was justified.
she cautioned them about barging into a cave without preparation.

warrior laughed it off and called goblin stupid and weak like children, even citing how he chased off stray goblins before. when his practice swing hit the roof, he ignored the warning sign and that got him killed later.

Fighter was completely confident she can beat down goblins easily. unfortunately, hobgoblin destroyed her before she encountered the bow and spear gobs.

wizard rushed priestess to catch up the two idiots who left them behind and when priestess told her she heard noises, wizard dismissed her and then the goblins back attacked them.

I sure hope they'd go further. There're definitely enough material: it's already 8 volumes of LN.
I don't think they can dive so deeply on a late night. There's not really much to it except for a very select few, though it's hard to say these days with a world wide audience and very digital audience. GoblinSlayer franchise is pretty good selling in the west. But otherwise, don't expect much for late night.

But volume 1 and 2 more or less sets up the GS series pretty well, so it's a good place to end, better then cramming 3 in.

Volume 3 sets up more of a world build, while 1 and 2 is more of GoblinSlayer himself, so it works out right.

So that scene is coming this week. I really hate these moments.
And no, I don't follow the Manga or the LNs, simply saw images on an article.

There are channels on youtube that only specialize in that, though ....

For those interested, the episode covered up to chapter nine of the manga, that is, it was an episode with plenty of action.

Excellent. Let them complain. If they did the adaptation right, I'm gonna have a blast watching it.

I was a bit concerned they would rush that part too much, but it was fine. In general, I was pretty satisfied with the attention on scouting and information gathering. It also properly characterize HEA, the dward and lizardman.

Color me also surprised the ogre was in 2D. I was expecting something akin to Overlord, which would be incredibly odd. Meanwhile, while Goblin Slayer still is shown in 3DCGI quite often, it is a relief it isn't the case during fights (aside of him being slamed to a pillar).

That said, I'm not exactly impressed by the fight itself, which felt a bit too much "turn based" if you catch my drift. It isn't bad per se, but it didn't really feel that intense, even though the ogre is giving a run for their money. I think it is mostly because of how HEA arrows and the dwarf spells felt a bit too tame (especially stone blast looks like the dwarf is using pebbles even though they should be really large rocks thrown at very high speed). And the water beam felt quite like a clip show. I think they should really have done the same as the manga: immediately cut the scene when GS uses the scroll, then have a complete recollection from the ogre POV (and cutting that useless reminder that the sorceress worked on the scroll).
I'm also a bit surprised they completely toned down the ogre's rage regarding GS not realizing he isn't "just mere goblin".

Anyway, that episode was fine by me, and if they keep somewhat the same "screenplay" as the LN and manga, the next arc should be glorious.

The fight felt like watching a video game boss raid. Goblin Slayer and the crewd taking it on together at once gave me that sort of impression. They had to tone down some violence to air it on TV which is expected I guess.

Good thing they kept the animation quality in tact so far for the season.

At least it's decent, rather than overlord so far.
