^ Eh. It's been like 10 years since I saw it, but I remember really being unsatisfied. It wasn't the Destroy All Monsters approach they took; that was cool in theory for Godzilla's third final film. But I didn't like the Matrixy style they went with. Felt so out of place. Even the music in that clip, I couldn't focus on the scene cause I was just so distracted by how weird it was.

Hmm... Well I hope they do a better job this time. I liked how Godzilla looked in the 1998 movie though, but the story and ending? Meh...

The first American Godzilla movie, well I was okay with it actually.

Though yeah, it seemed kinda lame at times, but the monster 'looked' cool.

It's Legendary Pictures. How badly can they mess this up?

Have you heard a movie called 10,000 BC by Roland Emmerich? Now that is a bad movie produced by Legendary Pictures.

I’m not complaining about Legendary Pictures here, just saying that a movie can be good or bad depends heavily on its writers and directors.

I take Studios for their overall recent track record. I have more faith in them than I don't.

Well, in your first post, you asked about how badly Legendary Pictures can mess a movie up and I just gave you one example (even though the studio isn't really the main cause of the "messy-ness" of a movie ).

Personally, I won’t lie my hope on a studio’s track record since studios rarely involved in the creative process (writers and directors are the main factors). Most often, studios are only involve in terms of editing, or when things go bad, they changed the personnel (see the conflicts between studio execs and directors in Superman 2 & Alien 3 production). As for Legendary Pictures itself, here’s some more examples of “not so good” movies they produced from their short list of production:
Lady in the Water
Ant Bully
Jonah Hex
Due Date
Sucker Punch
The Hangover II

Etc.

Elizabeth Olsen: Godzilla Back to its Roots

The 1954 original was directed by Ishirô Honda and the Godzilla character (originally Gojira) was designed to serve as an allegory for nuclear weapons. Especially compared to some of the campier sequels that would follow, Godzilla is a decidedly somber film and it appears that that tone will be emulated in Edwards' version.

Likely to also star Bryan Cranston and Aaron Johnson, Godzilla hits theaters May 16, 2014.
Well, it's we get good news so far. Can't wait to see the trailers then the movie.

BRYAN CRANSTON IN GODZILLA?

Fuck yes.

Still always amazed I never knew there was a third Olsen sister. I wonder if she's watched the original.

More like: "Thank God for this Godzilla reboot. This can rid the bad aftertaste of Roland Emmerich's Godzilla-wannabe movie since 1998"

Juliette Binoche in negotiations to join Godzilla cast

Original article in French: http://www.cinoche.com/actualites/ju...lla/index.html

Quote:
According to Variety, French actress Juliette Binoche is currently negotiating to join the cast of the film Godzilla. Binoche was recently seen in David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, in Abbas Kiarostami's Copie conforme as well as in Sylvie Testud's La vie d'une autre. The actress won an Academy Award for her performance in The English Patient. She was also nominated for best actress in 2000 for her role in Chocolat.

If an agreement is reached, Juliette Binoche will co-star with Aaron Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen, who already confirmed their presence in the cast of the next Godzilla. Gareth Edwards, who directed Monsters in 2010, is in charge of the production, planned for a release in theaters for May 16, 2014. Drew Pearce, David Goyer, David Callaham, Max Borenstein and Frank Darabont all worked in writing the screenplay on one of the best-known monsters worldwide. More than 25 movies were inspired by Godzilla, as well as several television shows, video games and books. The character was created by Tomoyuki Tanaka and the Toho society in the 1950s.

Roland Emmerich directed the most recent Godzilla movie. The fantasy adventure motion picture, strong with a $130M budget, only earned $136M in North America, but also $242M in the rest of the world, setting a respectable total of $379M.
I always loved watching Juliette Binoche whenever she can be seen in an American/British movie. We'll see how this flick goes.

I'm kind of looking forward to this. Hope they can turn it into the movie that the writers are imagining. It'd be fun to watch and if they can pull it off, props to them.
