I'm not too sure of the character on Mikoto's side originally, but I assume it means the opposite of Touma's, which can be read as 'luck' or 'fortune' or 'happiness'. Touma basically gave that to Mikoto, but just as he was about to leave she dragged him to her side as well.

^ 辛 (シン/から.い、つら.い、-づら.い、かのと) = bitter, hot (can be interpreted as angry), painful. It's the exact opposite of 幸, in a sense.

The left kanli on first pick mean "sadness" right one - "happyness". When Touma excange lines between two nkanji he became "sad" instead of Mikoto i.e give her his happines. But Mikoto didn`t want hin to became unhappy and drag hi to her, to "happyness".

is that even index? I thought I'm seeing a different person. Remind me of the denpa or something. Forgot the title of the light novel and it's also getting an anime. The girl their looks like index but wear cute clothes and is considered a HEROINE!!!! and lots of TIME!!! and center of STORY!!! of her own novel. But index.... meh.... side character. the real rocks in to aru is TOUMA AND ACCELERATOR!!! HELL YEAH!

A light novel series which has a heroine who looks like Index? I have a feeling I know which but can't remember the title name, but about similarities you have Shinryaku! Ika musume too.

The girl on the left... I really didn't recognize her for a moment. Her clothes are different, for one thing, and her hair is kind of... fluffy? It is usually straight down...

Its the hair. If it was like she usually wears it, Index. All separated like that, it makes it difficult to recognise her.
