So there goes a lot of my speculations. Izumi told everything to Mirai. Need proper subs since this was one hell of an info dump.

This one incredibly reminds me of Madoka Magica's 10th episode where we found out that Izumi explains everything going in the story to Mirai. It was then intersected by scenes of what will come in the future, it was a quite interesting sight. There's even some added behind the scenes found in certain episodes as well so I'll probably grow attached to the story's flow later.

Despite being a non-action episode I liked episode 10 more then 9.

I can just hear the fans squealing over the Internet when Mirai kissed Akihito in his dream. XD But I like how we see all the scenes with Izumi come together to fill in the gaps we've had throughout the series thus far. I kinda wish they didn't dump it all into one episode but overall it still worked for me.

But if Beyond the Boundary is now outside of Akihito is he still immortal after the Calm is over? Looks like he'll be charging in to save Mirai in the next episode and its not gonna be a cake walk.

my guess is that mirai is in Akihito's body. The one she tries to talk to(winter part) is the human part while the rest is all kyokai no kanata.

Agreed. Everything makes sense now but this episode gave me a lot of questions. Where is Mirai now? Is she inside Akihito since she's hunting the Beyond the Boundary? Who's the old guy that Izumi has been talking to the entire team? Why is the Society of Spirit World Warriors competing with the Nase family?

Color me quite surprised by Episode 10 as well. Whereas KnK was pretty much subpar thorough most episodes, it actually does give a pretty good insight when you factor the "plot twist".
While I was part of those who were quite annoyed by Mirai's goofy victim syndrom, this episode reveals itself as being some sort of eye opener. At least, Mirai's role in the previous episodes does make sense, and it changes drastically her intent and interactions with Akihito.

Now, if only they didn't shoehorned so many random jokes and Sakura's purpose...

I don't think Mirai is inside Akihito.

In Akihito's dream, dream!Mirai said a small bit of her blood is still inside of him, and that's how she was able to confess her feelings for him. But the rest of her body is somewhere else.

From the looks of it, it seems like after Mirai forced Beyond the Boundary out of Akihito's body it engulfed her and she vanished. Since Beyond the Boundary doesn't have a physical body it needs to possess a host. It's first host was Akihito and now it's likely latched itself onto Mirai, much like how Izumi warned her would happen. What I don't get is where did Mirai go after she was possessed? We see a giant floating sphere hanging in the sky of winter!Mirai's world, and we also seem to see it outside Akihito's hospital window when he wakes up from his dream. Winter!Mirai says that's Beyond the Boundary's core (if that's it's youmu stone then it's the size of the Death Star! Imagine how many bentos or bonsai she can buy with the money it would turn ), implying her conscious is inside Beyond the Boundary's.

I disagree... Sakura's purpose wasn't that shoe horned when you think about it.

She was a counter for Mirai. She was told by Miroku that she could harness the power all for herself IF she would kill Mirai.

What this makes me think is that Miroku was already keeping tabs at Izumi's plan for a long time.

errr... if Izumi told Mirai everything she needed to know about Akihito even before episode 1 then what's with all the "Do I look normal to you" drama when he went berserker the first time? Well it's no secret by now that this series has some serious writing issues...

Also... Mirai's blood is like magic. It does everything! Ok not everything but you get the point...

Well the line was originally thrown by Mirai which was later used by Aki. She did respond in a more light hearted and humorous manner.

The drama we perceived in ep 4 was parallel but in a way same to what it truly was in the revelation.

During the second half of ep 10, the drama of ep 4 was revealed to be Mirai seeing the conflicts within Aki. Seeing the contrast between the creature's wild instinct kick-in to his kind hearted side. She only saw him at the start as a target/youmu which she obviously somewhat mellowed to after a few eps in.
