Back when I was a kid, I had the most ginormous crush on Ed Elric. I'm 19 now and still do, but instead of, "omg he's so cute omg", it's more because he's really strong (emotionally and physically). He's really courageous, even if his courage typically comes from being too hot-headed. I'm unsure how to put it, but he just made me want to be stronger as a person. If I can, I want to protect everything precious to me no matter what. I feel like as a person, he helped me grow up to be strong and try to fight for what must be right.

Male:
Dracula/Alucard from hellsing.

I have liked vampires since i was young because i have played a lot of castlevania games.Hellsing Alucard was definitely one of my most favorite and top badasses in anime.They portrayed how when he was Vlad to Count dracula very well and still keeps laughing even though he was being shot and stab a thousand times.That being said, he is definitely the best incarnation of dracula by far.Not until LoS 2 dracula though.

Female:
Saber from Fate/Stay night

She's strong and cute.If you anyone have played the visual novel you know what i'm talking about.Although, i mostly don't agree with her ideals, that doesn't stop me from liking her character till the end.

My favorites, in no particular order, are:
*Himura Kenshin: In all other series I've watched the heroes were justice, Kenshin was "redemption" due to his dark past. His fighting style using that "reversed edge" reflected it. I liked the way the Trust and Betrayal portrayed his past, but I really didn't like the other two OVAs.

*Allen Walker: This was when I was a teen reader. All other teen characters were a bit rude, cocky or something like that. Allen was surprisingly a gentleman except for the times he got annoyed by Yu Kanda or when he yelled at Lenalee Lee from stopping him from exorcising a SELFDESTRUCTING demon. This last sentence reflected of his issues which later served as part of his development.

*Vash: Similar to Kenshin but probably even funnier. Vash had a really tragic past but apparently he doesn't remember what exactly happened in his there. As he remembers, Vash starts questioning his own beliefs.

*Gintoki Sakata: Do I need to say something about this guy?

The dude is man-child troll who will help anyone in need.

*Akane Tsunemori: While initially nicknamed "Moe police" for her being so innocent, Akane started to warm up on me when she started yelling at Ginoza that she was to be friends with the Enforcer. While season 2 wasn't as good as season 1, at least it had Akane. Her interactions with Shinya Kogami were also pretty good.

I would add more but I'm more conflicted: When it comes to mecha it is either Sosuke Sagara or Lelouch and when it comes to Fullmetal Alchemist it is either Edward or Greeling

Mmm.. it's tough but.. I finally believe I've settled on a favorite. Has to be Allen from D. gray-man. Can't believe it took me this long to come across this anime. He's a lovable, adorable and completely badass cutie. Seriously first episode didn't take me long to love his character <3

Yuzu Hiiragi from Yugioh Arc V.
Not only she is a very sweet girl, she is also really strong in many ways.
As of now I admit that I'm envious of her.
I see why Yuya treats Yuzu as of his big sister.
