Yes. It's a seven movie series, one movie per month. It started in December. Subs will wait until the DVDs are released, I assume.

There will be 7 movies, 1 for each chapter. 3 movies have been out so far, in the order that the novels went. They haven't been released on DVD as far as I know, so you can't grab a torrent just yet. I bet a few sub groups out there will be eager to get their hands on these movies, so don't worry if you can't understand Japanese. Also, the movies are only about 50-60 minutes or so, so subbing shouldn't take a lot longer than subbing an ordinary anime episode.

Movie 4 will probably be longer than that. Chapter 4 itself was longer than 1-3 put together if I remember correctly. And the movies have been pretty faithful to the novel, adapting every scene.

They are being released in movie theaters, therefore they are movies. They are not original video animations (OVAs = directly released as DVDs; that's what it means). Your definitions are wrong. If they were OVAs no one would ever see them before the DVDs were released. However, they are instead movies, and not OVAs and not a TV series.

As far as I know, the novels are like that. Not sure about the movies, but they said the movies were faithful to the novels.

Desperately waiting for the movies to come out since while I can read the chinese version but I could only manage to find a scan of the novel but it happened to be in the annoying up to down left to right way of printing that is a total migrane to read and the english translation's so dead I have no hope left and so I'm here typing about how bad this is and how desperate I am.

Has there been any announcement by ufotable regarding the remaining 4 parts? It's kind of funny how they stagger the first three releases, but hold on the rest so far. Are they waiting on some kind of holiday season release?
