That 6th princess did something to Eco's bracelet. It has simultaneously both locked it in place (meaning she can't transform at will) and darkened it.

It's kind of a retarded nerf, but I guess Ash has grown too quickly and his rival (perhaps the former first prince) isn't ready yet.

I didn't read the series with too much detail, but yes. Whenever Eco creates an armor or gear, it takes much more magic to do so. When Eco created Ash's gear in this volume, she was completely spent whereas I never remember her being so tired in the previous volumes. The quality of the gear from my impression was also... weaker than it felt from volumes 8-10.

Also, the (now locked-in) bracelet flat out prevents Eco from transforming so that's another nerf
