Oda Nobuna no Yabou [Light Novel]

Just something that crossed my mind while pondering about this series in its entirety.

I don't usually like speculating because I don't like it when I get my theories jossed by canon So for fun's sake, here goes my crack at it.

Spoiler for Theories and tinfoil hats time!:

Honnouji in this series might happen like how it is supposed to be documented, but considering this series, in a way or another Yoshiharu and company will be able to return from the frontline in time and stop Juubei from her attempt to kill Nobuna, with the reasoning that despite the clear difference in status and how she claims only she (Juubei) can be his company + her own feelings (which she might come to realize it sometime later), Yoshiharu's heart is with Nobuna. He will then snap her out of it... and more events after that can be likened to the RL!Hideyoshi's execution of RL!Mitsuhide.

... and this is where my further ideas for what might happen become blurry... because basically, I never thought what's going to happen next, so consider this as what I pulled out from my ... uh, bottom.

It is the norm, but the anime at least kept the pacing at a decent rate and good to watch. They can't fit everything, but they included the important parts. The original material is sometimes always the best.

Well I know the obvious ones are Nobuna, Akechi, Hanbei, and Shingen. There are likely more, but those are the ones confirmed.

When Juubei showed her Sakamoto castle and presented the logics for why Yoshiharu should marry her to both Nobuna and Yoshiharu, both of them could not counter argue.
Nobuna who was driven to the wall for the first time wanted to cut not Yoshiharu but Juubei .

And so Nobuna gathered her retainers to discuss about the construction of Azuchi castle to deceive impress Juubei

Spoiler for Castle Building is a serious business:

- Nagahide, Matsunaga, Organtino (Kappa), Frois, Yoshiharu, and Inuchiyo were called.
Yoshiharu asked if it was okay not to call Katsuie, because she would sulk about it.
Nobuna answered that Katsuie would just say she couldn't understand a thing and cry. Nobuna was really in a hurry.

- Nobuna had already obtained the plan to build a large castle at Azuchi from Dousan when he was still alive. The castle would become the stronghold during the decisive
battles between Oda and the Kyou-bound forces of Ueseugi (from the northern province) and Takeda (eastern province).

-Nobuna wanted to turn Mt. Azuchi into a fortress. At the peak of the mountain, 7 stories main keep would be built. The tower should overshadow the height of Sakamoto castle. Nobuna added that it won't be for mere decoration, as she intended to stay in it. Barbarian-style stairwell would be built inside the tower, and the area surrounding the castle should be fortified with the latest style of stonewall.
- Yoshiharu asked if she intended to stay by herself in the 7 stories keep. Nobuna told him to shut up and answered that if one is to be satisfied with the view of Lake Biwa, the tower should be as high as possible. Nobuna then asked him back if he really wanted to live with Juubei.
Actually Nobuna wanted to say to him that one day she and Yoshiharu would probably be together, and their family would expand, and thus the house should be big. But she couldn't say it in front of her other retainers.

- Nagahide said that Japanese artisans doesn't have the technologies to build such castle that Nobuna mentioned. The Japanese have always used wood to build their houses, as oppose to the Barbarians who used Stone. The building of the stairwell was impossible, she added.
- Nobuna replied that it was just a case of unprecedented, so they just have to build it. Nobuna gave Manchiyo the task to manage the construction of the castle. The construction of not only Azuchi castle tower, but a new city would be harder than fighting a war. She wanted to build a new commercial city and turned Azuchi into Japanese number 1 spot for sight seeing. And thus Nobuna decided to give the task to Manchiyo whose tenacity was above Riku and Yoshiharu.
- Manchiyo said there was nothing at Azuchi except reeds. Nobuna responded that she wanted to build a dream city never seen before in Japan. A city where not only a tower and churches, but the cultures from all countries in the world would converge.
- The city will be the place where the people of Japan would like to visit once in their lifetime, and when the Barbarian heard about it, they would compete with each other to reach the city.
- The city is going to be an important piece to end the turbulence. And for that it would be easier to build from the scratch on a soil that doesn't have anything.
Nobuna added that they could always burn the old shops and houses at the roads of Kyou (Kyouto), but then Yoshiharu would be angry.
- Nagahide gave full points for Nobuna's vision, but the problems still lied on the technology.

- Yoshiharu understood what Nobuna intended to build (in modern sense) was a large
Attraction Center. Nobuna said to him to stop using his Monkey language.
- She added that inside the tower, it should be decorated with idols and pictures of Gods, Buddha, and the Christian Angels in battle formations.
- Yoshiharu praised her as her scale was beyond the chart.

And indeed the scale was off the chart.
- Nobuna later said that she wanted to build Barbarian temple that worship the idols of herself inside the keep where the visitors would make monetary offerings. The purpose of the temple would be to tell everyone that she's the most lovely and beautiful one in the whole world.
- Yoshiharu told Nobuna to stop with her endless megalomania. It was okay to build an Attraction Center in Azuchi, but for Nobuna to become the Mickey Mouse is something a Chuunibyou patient would do.
- Frois worried when she heard about Nobuna's plan. She said it is okay to build a high tower, as long as it doesn't reach the wrath of Deus. Frois mentioned that in the Bible there was an anecdote about the Babel Tower to Nobuna.
- Organtino then continued and said that in ancient time where humankind spoke the same language, they built a high tower not to worship the God, but instead to demonstrate their fame. As the result of God's wrath, the human could not understand each other anymore and the building of the tower stopped.

- Nobuna called Organtino as Kappa (from vol 5, and Goemon did call him the same) and said if the legend was true, then the God was just jealous and wanted to harass the people.
- Frois then said the tale about the Babel Tower was to remind human about their pomposity, and warned Nobuna that building her own idols to be worshiped was a sinful
arrogance.
- Nobuna replied that she didn't have intention to become a God, and it was just for to tell the whole world that she's the most beautiful girl.
- Nobuna was burning with sense of rivalry with Juubei. Nobuna was afraid that Juubei would steal Yoshiharu, but even so, her plans was overdoing it.
- Nagahide said Nobuna's boastful talk was too much, and it would just invite misunderstanding from the public.
- The one who feared neither Gods nor Buddha, Matsunaga, said Nobuna's intention was amusing. She added that if Nobuna wanted to unite Japan, such theatricality would be necessary. It was a good opportunity to build the castle at that time as Shingen was busy at Kantou.
- Matsunaga also proposed to invite Himiko to live inside the tower. Nobuna praised her for her idea, and even if they could not make Himiko to live with them, at least Himiko should do an Imperial Visit to Azuchi castle.
- Danjo later said if the Imperial Visit is done, then they should just take Himiko in. ( *｀ω´)
- Yoshiharu thought Matsunaga whose blood was flowing with Persian's was an evil onee-san.
- Nobuna later said to withhold the plan about the Imperial Visit. She charged Frois and Matsunaga with the tasks of helping Nagahide.
- Frois was tasked with architecturing the Barbarian churchs, while Matsunaga was in charge in Persian style buildings and arts.
- Yoshiharu was given the task to find the supply for stones to be used for Azuchi castle. Nobuna said if the stones were insufficient, Yoshiharu should take from tombstones and stone made storehouses, because in the end, there are just stones.
- Yoshiharu replied that he didn't fear Gods and Buddha, but it would still be eerie to use tombstones, so he asked Nobuna to not to.
- Nobuna called him a coward, and asked him again if he's really planning on living in Sakamoto Castle.

Nobuna could not hide her jealousy, as her rival was the genius bishoujo general, Akechi Juubei Mitsuhide, someone that Nobuna herself appointed to be her successor should something happened to her. But Nobuna didn't have any intentions to give Yoshiharu to Juubei.

Ah, I didn't mention that Nobuna's dream in vol 4 ended with her saying to Akechi that Yoshiharu belongs to her and went crazy with the matchlock.

Spoiler for Even so, I still want a threesome end between Yoshiharu-Nobuna-Akechi :P.:

When Nobuna came to Mt. Toragoze to meet Yoshiharu (the one where she was alone with him in the tea room), Yoshiharu realized after the 49 days of mourning was over, Nobuna looked more like an adult. She told him that she could not kill the love of her brother, even after Goemon (who told Nobuna about Nagamasa's true gender) told her to choose between Odani Castle and Nagamasa.
Goemon once mentioned to Yoshiharu that he would not be able to pick all the fruits (meaning he should not be greedy). Goemon pretended to die during the battle of Mino to make Yoshiharu realize about this. Nobuna now has become like him, and she said it was because her heart was swayed away by a monkey from the future.

Speaking of Chuunibyou, I loled at Bontemaru who randomly picked a passerby retainer to go to meet the Rome Emperor to deliver the letter inviting the Rome Empire to attack Japan using ships. And when Japan is ashes, Bontenmaru and the Emperor should have an epic battle at Mt Megiddo.

The last part she may, but the rest I think its good. Though it will probably need at least need a lot of people working on it and advancement on construction.

A bit ridiculous it might be, but keep in mind that's exactly what Nobuna's going for.

Keep in mind what lead up to this:

Juubei was showing off Sakamoto Castle to Nobuna and Yoshiharu. She also successfully presented reasons for Yoshiharu to marry her, and neither Nobuna nor Yoshiharu were able to counter Juubei's arguments (unless they wanted to reveal that they were in love, which they couldn't do).

The only thing that stopped a wedding on the spot was Nobuna pulling out a delaying tactic out of sheer desperation: Nobuna argued that a piddly thing like Sakamoto was nowhere near good enough as a "love nest" for two of her top retainers, and that something of at least the quality of Azuchi is necessary.

With this condition, for a marriage between Juubei and Yoshiharu to occur, Juubei would have to build a new castle; one that is at least as good as Azuchi. It follows then, that the harder it is to build Azuchi, the longer Nobuna and Yoshiharu would have until Juubei insisted on a wedding again.

Thus, it would make sense for Nobuna to pimp out Azuchi as much as possible, to buy as much time as possible. I also vaguely recall a scene in some previous volume that Nobuna stated (I forget to who) that one of her major goals is to remove the class distinctions in Japan.

I'll let you put two and two together.
