Quoting myself to remind everyone that is only going to get worse... The formula that the author is following is to play to our emotions by creating strong bonds between the viewers and the characters then severing them in the worst possible way. It almost seems certain that Kite will also meet his end sometime soon... I just hope I am wrong about him =( Gyro's background story was a dead giveaway... his life story will give a clear purpose to the ant King once he is born.

Gyro's story was kinda over the top and a bit lazy in the exposition but it was engaging in it's own way. I figured it was going to be relevant but I'm not sure if I'll like the reason. It's confirmed that the Chimera ants can inherit memory but I hope there's a different explanation for this because that kind of memory isn't exactly going to pass over through your genes. Kaito's last monologue was even more confusing since it seems like he knows Chimera Ants can inherit memory or the the personality traits of people which I'd like an explanation for too. Certainly there is a certain amount of evidence now that shows personality can be based on our genes but I think it's a bit of a leap to say that the chimera ants obtaining genes from the NGL leaders specifically is a very bad development. Otherwise it was another fairly decent build up. Saw Ponzu and the arrow guy's death coming a mile away but it's still kinda disheartening. They made such an adorable couple.
Thankfully, Gon and Killua have finally entered the battlefield so this is going to become a lot more engaging.

^There is a LOT of fiction out there. You just haven't been reading/watching/playing the ones that feature this idea. The idea builds off of the fact that animals seem to "know" things which by all rights they shouldn't.

I mean this is by far the most brutal arc of the series and it should be shown as such.

I actually think that Ponzu was spared a bit. She got shot in the head. That’s one “nice” death if you ask me. If Togashi truly wanted to mess with our head, he’ll have Ponzu eaten alive while we hear her screaming . But yeah, I agree that this arc is rather grim. I really hope it won't become a Tomino-esque "kill-em all" arc.
Also, I’m not a manga reader, so I wonder how in the hell do some of the ant-generals obtain some fancy clothes (like the suit worn by that pink koala)? As far as I can remember, before the koala appeared, they only had villagers to eat, right? And I don’t think any of those villagers conveniently owned a suit, let alone a suit the size of a koala . Does these ants has the ability of a tailor? Are their clothes custom-made by themselves? Sorry if you think this is a stupid question. I’m just curious.
