Gaddafi's troops capture oil town of Brega
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/...7270JP20110313
Remember all the talk about massacre than Gaddafi made about the rebels, there's good chance than it will happen...

More settlements and more killings in the West Bank.

Kind of like the killing part of the story was added for "balance" in what is basically a story about the settlements.

Is that sort of a "make up your mind" situation? Either be at peace or be at war, because this inbetween thing just is not working out for either side it seems.

I don't believe there will ever be peace between those two in my lifetime.

Meanwhile, while the media is focused on Japan, the Middle East continues to be heading the same as it was before the Earthquake....

That's probably one of the few opinions we share. The ways both sides act, there's no peace in sight.

Saudi Arabia technically invades Bahrain
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42070773...deastn_africa/
Saudi troops invade in an attempt to quell the Majority Shia protesters and to protect the throne of the minority Sunni rulers.

three guesses at what the U.N security council will say about this.
first two guesses don't count.

seems to me like a pretty good idea. Instead of doing what Israel has done often in the past and made more concessions and peace attempts in response to violence, it's taking a different approach "you kill our people, we'll spawn more of them." in other words, taking a stance that shows clearly that they are not willing to work with people who won't meet them half way.

A U.S.-led research team may have finally located the lost city of Atlantis, the legendary metropolis believed swamped by a tsunami thousands of years ago, in mud flats in southern Spain.
kind of wish they put up more details but still very interesting.

There have been a number of "atlantis" cities found over the years... strangely, this one seems to connect the dots really well unlike most of the others (some of which bordered on total nonsense).

There have been a lot or ruins or rock patterns described as Atlantis in the past, just no one has been able to find "proof". Some around Greece, South America, Italy, all sorts of places.

As for Iran's objection, that seems normal all things considered.

"Objection!!" heh, yeah.

Its always the same interesting group of countries that object to "external interference in internal affairs" like this ... usually the countries doing crappy things to their own citizens. So it goes...

The interesting thing to me is the use of Saudi troops... the royal thugs of the middle east must be nervous.
