I don't know. AFAIK, MangaGamer merely sends each editor a raw unedited script to work with. However, they pay people for their work, so there's compensation involved.
On a related note, MangaGamer tests the Japanese ability of each applicant, so they aren't looking for people who don't have a decent grasp of the written language.
