I guess the G-exes is a custom built, up-version from the standard Shaldoll. The greatest change from the standard is the twin thruster making more faster and maneuverable, copying the Gundam face design. The antennae has more sensors for the Woolf tracking senses.
Not sure if they copy the Dots rifle and the beam saber without the original modification. But i think the old chief engineer familiar the legendary Gundam there might be some old records of weapons data on their factory manufacturer. |

I just realized one of the biggest reasons i dislike AGE.
the lack of Beam sabre combat, the beam sabre/dagger is useless :/ it's hardly been used at all. and no, Titus wrestling beam...knucklekneeshoulder things does not count |

Once you know the principle of the tech, it should be easy to replicate, considering they do not have to fiddle with patents and legal matters. As for beam saber, I think it is probably a new invention by that Mukred Madorna, probably came up with the idea when building his version of the DOTS rifle.

Wasn't said that the Gundam AGE-1's sabers were like the 00 Gundam's? With the adjustable blade from beam saber to beam dagger? 00 gave a pretty good justification for the use of a beam dagger, and it's probably the same for AGE as well--especially with how tough the UE mobile suit's armor is.

I'm really, really hoping my impression of it will change with its appearance in tomorrow's episode. |

We've seen mobile suits in other Gundam shows using tackling tactics and such before--hell, IIRC, a mobile suit tackled the Kshatriya in episode one of Gundam Unicorn. If one has to do that in a fight, adding beam weaponry to the method is only logical.
