It has been a decade since the true unveiling of the IS, the White Knight incident. The war that followed as people made grabs for IS and machines reverse engineered from them. That war had become known as the Reclamation War. At present, the IS have been mass-produced via False Numbers which are only imitation IS which use continually advancing conventional technologies to replicate some of the IS capabilities. The war had easily led to a disaster which left a gaping scar upon the Earth's surface, serving as a reminder of the power humanity has gained and the need for responsibility in its use. The space exploration program that initially spawned the IS is soon finished and a colonization ship named Wonderland was built in accordance to plans by professor Shinonono Tabane.

The original 467 units created by Tabane became known as the True Numbers or Originals as most dubbed them. of these 467 units, 100 were allotted to the long term exploration mission along with innumerable false numbers, which is to find a new homeworld for earthlings. This mission being established by ISA or the International Sojourners Alliance.

Orimura Ichika: Initially entering highschool, he is drafted as a trainee food engineer aboard the Wonderland. This is by the influence of Orimura Chifuyu who had been assigned as an instructor for on-board IS pilots.

Shinonono Houki: The younger sister of Shinonono Tabane who disappeared off the face of the Earth five years after the White Knight incident and shortly after the Reclamation War.Currently serves as a trainee IS pilot on-board the Wonderland in search of her sister whose last words were "I will wait for you in that place amongst the stars."

Cecilia Alcott: Heiress of the Alcott fortune and business ventures. She is England's top IS trainee and also the assigned pilot of an Original Number the Blue Tears. Cecilia was forced into the exploration mission as per the government's order in order to protect her family name and legacy. The businesses are currently under stewardship of her loyal maid Chelsea.

Huang Ling Yin: One of China's representative in the ISA plan. Pilot of the Original number Shen Long. She initially refused the plan but relented once doing a once over of the crew list. A childhood friend of Orimura Ichika's she finds joy in teasing him and enjoys a guy friend relationship with him, though she wants to change this GF status to another kind of GF.

Charlotte Dunois: The France representative who was dispatched as a spy on the technological advances of other countries in their IS research, both true and false numbers. Eventually she gains additional directives to gain information on Orimura Ichika and his True Number IS, the Byakushiki. She pilots the Original IS Rafael Revive.

Laura Bodewig: Originally part of the supersoldier group Schwarzer Hase designated to split from the original mission, she was reassigned to the Wonderland as representative of Germany. Her IS unit is the True number Schwarzer Regen. She has a prior acquaintanceship with Orimura Chifuyu and looks up to her much like a big sister. She abhors Ichika whom she feels is a waste of Chifuyu's attention.

Sarashiki Tatenashi: A mysterious IS pilot with ties to no country. There is practically no data on her within the database of the ISA mission however she holds substantial authority within the ship's chain of command. She seems to be the leader of an organization that assists the ISA exploration mission. She pilots an Original IS she fittingly dubbed the Mysterious Lady.

Sarashiki Kanzashi: A withdrawn girl with equally little amount of data on her within the ISA database. She seems to be a bit of an anime otaku. Her unit is currently a refitted True Number Uchigane. She bears a good bit of inferiority complex against people in general. This is due to her experiences of being overshadowed in skill and achievements by her sister, and importance once by Ichika, who was assigned the frame that should have been assigned to Kanzashi: Byakushiki.

He pulls out a beeping palm-sized tablet from his other pocket and taps its screen. The tablet responds to his touch and shows him an alert message status at the middle of the screen. He taps the blinking mail icon which pops out a mini world map along with seven blips on various locations.

“What the…?”

The blips slowly converge towards Japan. Recognizing the blips, Jinrai cringes with a frown as he tightens his grip on the tablet then looks at Inami.

‘They're not done yet, Inami…’

The fight is not yet over...

I.S.-Type Winter Special Edition cover mostly hetero-twincestuous articles (Thanks to Hata-sensei), but it has it's own side dish of yaoi and yuri. Ichika-Dan pinup is especially popular and sought-up collectibles... even Ran is confused whether to be angry or aroused.

The idea was that the girls wanted to surprise Ichika over the weekend by dropping in for lunch. But as they approach, they here voices inside. It sounds like arguing. So they sneak in to take a peek.

They see Ichika in an apron packing rice into a bowl as he grumbles about bills and house work. He hands over the bowl to the person across whom he scolds to get a job and to help around the house. Who else is there but Gentarou with a workman's bandanna and wearing his gakuran jacket over his beater like a cape. Gentarou counters by saying that he'd get a job but Chifuyu runs him down a lot in training and he's currently fixing those leaks in the pipes and the drippy roof.

Cue one of the girls getting a silent nosebleed as one mouths "married couple"

It's a series of articles that's officially registered as biweekly school newspaper, but is published outside I.S.A. after screened by Chifuyu for 'dangerous content' (military secret included) as monthly issue magazine.

The magazine is 4/5 article and 1/5 pictures & pinups. But the Seasonal special edition is thicker, with 1/3 of it being special edition posters and pinups, published twice a year.

Summer Edition is oddly tame in terms of subtext, but has a lot more fanservice. (such as Chifuyu and her lingerie-bikini)
