It is quite funny how the camera angles are always facing her instead of behind.

LOL i actually think its very funny. Breaking camera angles are always amusing when you figure exactly what they are trying avoid showing.

Haha indeed, and also notice how the anime character did see (and commented on it in one case) her panties while the anime viewer was left in the dark.

I wouldn't be surprised if we never find out what color they are.

I didn't think I would get drawn in by this one. I mean, ballet and motorbikes? Come on! However, the concept worked incredibly well. My only gripes are the contrived viewing angles so as to minimise the panchira possibilities, and the ugly characters. OK, non-moe is one thing, but honestly.

I'm pretty sure they showed her panties. I think I watched too many ecchi anime like rosario + vampire because I can easily tell and see her panties when they showed it.

technically you do see when the club chairman is chasing after her... but its in such low detail is hardly worth mentioning.

This. I found out by freezing the frame while watching the episode, it's the same colour white so it's hard to distinguish (while moving).

How is the characters ugly? I thought the designs are great considering the setting of stories. The original manga is seinen after all.

A ballerina dancing on a robot is still sexy especially if she wear the white dress (like in the opening)

I've got nothing against the character designs in this show --- just her hair is awful.

Looking back at this thread I guess I am the only one that was only half taken in by this episode. Perhaps it's just that I prefer not to get ahead of myself, but I can't help but feel the concepts didn't work as well for me as others are claiming they did for them right out of the gate. Also I can't say I felt the animation was as godly as others are claiming it was either, the sakura petal scene notwithstanding. CG was good, it's just that no matter how hard they try it's impossible not to notice it clashing with the style of the character designs. At the end of it all I find myself saying that this could work and I hope it does, but I'm not going to assume it will until the show proves itself to me over the course of the next few episodes.

That said it's definitely the best first episode I've seen so far this winter season, but is that really saying a whole lot considering the competition? We'll find out in a month or so.

Shoko`s hair will likely change as it does in the manga from time to time, mostly depending on her mood and the occasion she`s going to. I just hope we get full-fanged Shoko in the anime like in the manga.

Wait, I've figured out what has been nagging at me about this episode. It's not what I haven't seen, but what I have. In other words I wonder if the show hasn't already played all of it's cards.

I don't think we have, i mean reading the summary for this show and there's still the main plot which i'm guessing will start to appear in the second episode.

Is it just me, or does the Ride-Back seem like the ultimate evolution of the Segway?
