Well, I had a shot of a Visual Novel called Brass Restoration. I found my first experience with such a game rather fun and would like more to play (preferably English language).

So can I get a few suggestions of good ones to play.

I'd recommend Clannad. It's been translated in English and it'll take you quite awhile to complete.

Fate/Stay Night and Tsukihime are worth checking out. They're not dating sims, but they're excellent visual novels. I'm a fan of Narcissu as well, but it's a kinetic novel rather than a visual novel.

Well... there is a lot of varied stuff out there you might want to check. Mangagamer has been making official releases of many good titles recently, including games like Da Capo, Shuffle and Kira Kira that you might want to check.

Ever 17 - The Out of Infinity is my all-time favorite, and it's in english.

I'm not really a fan of dating sims, so if you're okay with any mystery/sci-fi recommendations, I'll second Fate/Stay Night, and also add Chaos;Head and Umineko no Naku Koro ni...

Nice to see you try a different format finally (albeit I can understand it after seeing your full anime list last time lol).
Anyway, here are my recommendations (yeah there are quite a few, since I've read a lot already). I wholeheartedly recommend playing VNs to be honest, since once you can get hooked on them, you will find yourself playing them until the middle of night, as some of them are that immersing.

Ever 17 (Opening)
It is one of the most awesome story centered titles. It is basically about a few kids/young adults being trapped in an underwater theme park and their struggle to escape, which may not sound that epic but believe me, the spoilers for that are all mind-blowing. Top quality stuff (well apart of Hirameki's translation on a few occasion). It doesn't have any H-content.
Umineko No Naku Koro Ni (OP)
I think you've heard or follow the anime already, but to be brutally honest, the anime is doing a poor reflection of the story. And no, it's not just because DEEN is that incompetent, but it's more like the story is immense and they cannot implement every small nuance which makes the game a masterpiece IMO. The story is the same, there is family conference which gets interrupted by a storm, and suddenly murders start happening. Later the story gets crazily twisted and start touching stuff like logic-battle, supernatural, mythology, romance, GAR fights, huge twists etc. While the graphics are kinda lacking (but you won't notice it after a while TBH), the BGM is one of the best among the VNs I've played, and the story is god-tier, so I wholeheartedly recommend. No H-content either.
Eve Burst Error (OP). That's my own personal favorite of all time. One of the major factors why I started playing more VNs. It's an oldschool style VN (ie. you have options to choose where to go what to inspect/look, with who do you want to talk etc, despite that the story is linear), with multiple protagonists, and both of them are really interesting chars. On one part it's about a detective guy who's having poor luck with his business lately, and he suddenly gets a new job to find out a mysterious painting, while the other protagonist is a japanese secret police woman who got reassigned for bodyguard duties for an Ambassador's daughter (the ambassador is voiced by Wakamoto btw). Basically the two stories seem totally unrelated at first, but soon they will get connected together and you will cooperate with your two protagonists despite that the protags only rarely meet (the majority of the cast will know both of them). Best investigative story I know. It is a masterpiece at revealing the mystery in my opinion. The game isn't young by now, but the graphics are still pretty, not to mention that the game is long and epic. No ero-scenes.
Saya No Uta (promo movie).
Warning that game has ero-content, and it has a strong guro nature for obvious reasons, but don't let those dishearten you of playing one of the most touching and most beautiful stories among the translated VNs. It's about a university student, who suffered an accident, and they had to perform a complex brain surgery on him, which completely changed his perception about the world. He started seeing everything as meat chunks, the human voices he hears changed to horrible, the food he loved to eat started to taste disgusting, and he see the persons as monsters. The only person he was able to see as a human is a strange little girl called Saya, and the plot is about their relationship and the mystery behind it. If you watched the promo movie and read that far without being disgusted, you would enjoy SnU . Short little story, with an awesome storytelling about a really moving relationship.
Tsukihime (OP)
That's another of the VNs with a very poor adaptation. It is a great story about a young man with a strange ability. The story involves vampires, romance, delicate family relations, enjoyable plottwists, actionscenes, and a really likeable cast. It has some ero-scenes, but they barely consist of a fraction of the whole game.
Fate/Stay Night (OP)
Arguably the most famous VN among the english community (albeit I personally wouldn't call it the best). Related to Tsukihime, since it's also one of the games with a poor adaptation (hell they skipped 2/3 of the story :/ ), it's by the same writer as Tsukihime, and several of the above mentioned characteristics can be described here too. Basically the game is about a mysterious magic war between 7 magicians, and their own unique heroes. Great game, especially if you are new to the genre. Similarly to Tsukihime, it has a few H-scenes.
Clannad (OP).
A tear jerking story about a care-free student, his hardships with growing up, and having a relationship with the girls. Probably the longest game among the current english translated VNs. While the anime did a great job, there are a few things they had to skip from the VN, and those are at least as enjoyable too IMO. Don't be surprised if you find yourself playing with tears in your eyes >.> . No ero-content at all.
Kira Kira (Demo Version) (OP).
A top-tier of the commercially translated VNs. Just play the demo version really >.> . It's a VN where the protag has to learn performing music for the school festival due to some circumstances, and to complicate things, he has to dress as a girl. The festival was such a huge success, they are about to do a tour in whole japan, which leads to many interesting adventures. Some scenarios are really emotional, and it is one of the funniest VNs (among with Eve Burst Error) I've played. It has some H-content..
Yume Miru Kusuri (OP)
The plot centers around your typical average student, who all of a sudden finds himself in a crazy and intense adventure with one of the heroines. The story has quite a few interesting plottwists, and it has some really emotional and soulcrushing moments. It contains H-scenes.
Phantom of Inferno (OP)
Here's a counter example finally, because the anime version of that VN is great too . In any case, I would recommend buying the VN too (last time I checked it was about ~2$ on amazon), because the english localized version had an awesome story too, and the anime likely can't include all the proper endings IMO. If you never heard of it, the game is about a young amnesiac man, who gets trained to be to be a top assassin by a mysterious girl called Ein, and he will be employed by a Mafia organization. The english game doesn't have H-scenes.

Eh... There are so many others I could mention for recommendation, but these should be enough to keep you busy for a while. In any case if you need some more, just send me a pm and/or just check out the titles I've rated at least 8/10 on my own VN-list here, because they are all really enjoyable VNs. I hope you will try some of the recommendations above.

Well if you're rich, get it from Amazon with just 130$ for a new one or 100$ for used one.. lol. No really though, I read that the publisher is out of business so it's very rare => You will not find it from any shop, so ebay/Amazon is the only hope you have, but you have to be ready to pay.. lots.

Well they still sell as digital download somewhere though but I guess you could just torrent it, if digital would suffice..

I also suggest Kanon too since there is already a full-english patch out already (and there are additional files in the translation patch to disable the ero-scenes), but don't use the patch with the Key 10th Memorial Box, it won't work since it uses a newer reallive version. Although Kanon may not be as long as Clannad, it's still pretty long and it took me hours to complete a single arc.

Brass Restoration is good? I spent 15 minutes on it and didn't really like it. Haven't played it in months.. Perhaps, I should give it another try but not anytime soon though. As for suggestions:

Ai Yori Aoshi: Most of the characters are somewhat annoying but the entire visual novel is fully voiced including the protagonist. The protagonist is voiced by Hoshi Souichirou who also voices chaos of the Xenosaga series, Fate of Star Ocean 3, Kira Yamato of GS/GSD, as well as Sanada Yukimura of Sengoku Basara. Perhaps, this is the only cool thing about the visual novel but the story is okay..

Ever17: The Out of Infinity: I wish I can turn off Coco's voice, it sounds so much like screech to me. Aside from that, the story is somewhat boring as that there are tons of scientific terms. I felt as though I was getting a physics lecture as that I have no clue what Sora was talking about many points in the story. Nonetheless, this is a sci-fi story for all ages and it is part of a rather popular series featuring a few visual novels with similar gameplay and character designs.
