The manga sold about a quarter-million copies from the scattered sales figures I looked at like these, making it one of the top-selling titles on that list. That's probably a more important figure to the likes of Shogakukan than how well it fared as an anime. Remember that most manga adaptations are intended to spur manga sales as much as bring in revenues from TV advertising or DVD sales. (A quick search didn't bring up many ancillary products like statuettes, either.)

Just reading the Daisuke Ono part reveals how flawed this theory is. It's more like they try and get certain popular seiyuu to try and save bad series.

Yea seriously. I mean regardless of who voices Battler, Deen's Umineko's going to sell bad regardless. Blame DEEN for being so gd cheap and not even giving much in the ways of extras. :S

And Dragonaut.... lol. (Did you know it had the whole Haruhi cast as VAs?)

That's on track to be in the top 5 best average sales for the year...maybe even top 3...existing fanbase and marketing will do that, I guess. Seiji Kishi directs big sales again. And yeah, that all-star cast of seiyuus probably helped too.

Every anime have all-star cast seiyuu at these day... More like the first factor playing part.

Remember P4 have around 200k fanbase for the game.

Btw the v1 is the discounted volume, I think the actual threshold might closer to Anohana.

Winter season is just too ridiculously strong this year. Man I really can't wait to see how Horizon turns out given it's supposed to be strong on the store front ends. Just 15k would make me very, very happy.

Too bad we won't see F/Z's numbers until next year down the line, that should be pretty interesting too.

Persona 4 has a large established fanbase, locally and abroad, that it can be said to have *turned on the cheats*. I'd be very surprised if it lost out to any show this season except, maybe, Fate/Zero for similar reasons. If fortune rolls in our favor, ATLUS might green light an anime of the much more awesome Persona 3 (and not some non-canonical thing again, even if that wasn't bad).

I feel like Manglobe is going to lose out again this season...

That is indeed off-topic. That being said, if I weren't already sold beforehand, this episode definitely pushed it to the top. One of the best adaptations of the genre in years... but it still won't sell.

At least hopefully it gets people to buy the game, which is probably the main thing they were banking on.
