Anyways, i really got into this episode, and I didn't see any 'coward' tendencies in Touma at all. Index was quite amusing, as well as the maiden girl for that moment she was there. I've always liked its comedy aspect, but hopefully it won't descend into blandness and be boring once the **** starts to hit the fan. Touma said he felt like two people, but he doesn't feel that much different at all in the anime from pre-mem loss. Also can someone explain to me exactly why Alestier has Stiyl doing the job of saving that girl? I would think that it could be in Alestier's best interest to get the girl himself, if she has such a unique power. |

Which brings the matter what are they doing in Science faction's turf?
Aleister may had been a magician but he left that life a long time ago. If they keep making a ruckus like blowing up a satellite of Academy City the Espers may have no choice but to intervence and kick magicians off their turf. The way I see it. Espers being closer to the mundane world don't know about about magic. But magicians are certainly aware of their existence. Academy City is still a secret to the outside world. Some may consider magical organizations a danger to Espers by existing itself. |

...Un, maa, without the novel narrations, it would be impossible to figure out who Aleister is, wouldn't it... (It was explained during the scene between Aleister and Stiyls.) I'll just leave it alone... For one thing, people do know Academy City exists. Otherwise, how did the place get populated? And such...

The existence of Espers is still a secret to the mundane world. That is why Academy City has satellites and entrances to the city is guarded. They have formed their little esper science utopia with acceptable levels of freedom. A futuristic city with a high quality of life. How would you feel if a bunch of outsiders start battling in your university town? People who aren't supposed to be there? Worse their little world domination plots may inevitably drag your people into the conflict and the spotlight. |

Episode 7
It seems that my initial expectations were correct: I like Touma v2 a lot better than the first incarnation. Sure there is a huge gap of reason associated with the train of thought that an amnesiac has to hold up the pretense of being someone he is not for the sake of not hurting the emotions of others, but what the hell. Touma has always lived in a world of weird logic anyways, so I'll go with it. The reason I like Touma v2 better is because he's too confused to do anything stupid like risking his life for a loli he met for five minutes at the beginning of the day, or he's too preoccupied relearning what Touma v1 knew to magically induct that the church is evil since they lied about Index's ability to use magic. The story direction is as generic as ever, but the animation value is still top notch... and to be honest, this is the only reason I'm still watching the show. |
