As for American culture. An evolved form from the various European and Native cultures much like European cultures are evloved from Norse, Greek, and Roman cultures which are evolved from Middle Eastern cutlures, which are evolved from, etc, etc, etc... It is different, just like Australian culture is different from European cultures, or Argentina is different from Spain. The old colonies make their own way in 200+ years from the motherlands and become cultures of their own with their own literature, their own instututions, their own history, and their own weirdnesses.

You know... if people are going to quote a news source they might also use fucking nouns in their sentences "democrats" is a meaningless word unless you provide the country and party in question. The DPJ has no connection at all to any party using "democrat" in other countries.
Or did you intend that to be inflammatory? Just to be clear, it is elements of the Ishihara faction who happen to be members of the DPJ who are pushing this little witchburning exercise in Japan. As the article says, " there is no objective standard for what is “prudent application” of a restriction on the sale of “harmful literature,” and no legal process or independent assessment of what should be banned." So its quite typical that the Japanese politicians involved in this will pass this law and it will never be enforced (much like the increase in the age-of-consent laws is rarely enforced). Again, as the article notes - I find it quite illuminating that a politician who pens rape novels is the key motivator in this little feel-good assault on the pop publishing industry. Other article quotes Ishihara has been noted for: Quote:

Yes, it doesn't matter if the law is enforced or not. Publishers in Japan already engage in self-censorship not explicitly required by law. The new Tokyo law will push publishers even further to veto controversial works, much like Hollywood used to.

It's funny how Ishihara doesn't read manga, yet he judges it, blames it for children's behavior problems.
When it has been proven here in the US that it doesn't really affect kids. And if Japan kids have such problems, it only means that parent's don't know how to discipline their kids well. Besides that, every country has the same problem, they always blame television when its normally their lack of teaching discipline and manners to their kids. He's a homophobe. He says homosexual have some genetic problem, which is why they act the way they do. Oh, lol. Quote:
This man is a hypocrite, how can he say that they should ban all 18+ material, when he himself wrote novels that included things such as those? |

A minor cannot apply for a greencard or a citizenship. They are their parent's responsibility. If the parents passed the border illegally, the child, whether he likes it or not, whether he knows it or not, will be UNABLE to apply for greencard or citizenship later on when he becomes an ADULT. Yeah, like everyone, they grow up. Time doesn't magically freeze when they cross the border. It doesn't change that it is morally questionable to punish the children for their parents' mistakes at the border. Quote:
