Well, "Fate" is a prominent enough theme in the series, so it makes sense. As for the rest...
"Zero" is obvious enough; it's a prequel that shows how the story of the original came about, hence "Zero" to Stay Night's "One". "Stay Night" is more difficult and likely to be indeed all about sounding cool. Don't know if there's any official word of it. I've heard fan theories that it's because Shirou wants Saber to "Stay" and most of the battles take place at "Night", but yeah, who knows, really. |

The "Zero" is referring to the countdown in Fate/Zero.
It is the "zero point/hour" where Fate/Stay Night (Shirou's story) starts from. "Stay Night" is obvious enough, as the dude above pointed out. The final battle scene in Fate route is named after it. |
