Most disturbing anime scenes? (SPOILERS!)

Let's try to tone down on graphic descriptions, and remember to use spoiler tags.

My first choice would have to be the final episode of Berserk -- completely came out of nowhere. And then, of course, the infamous
Spoiler:
from Elfen Lied.

I found the
Spoiler:
in Narutaru pretty disturbing, especially as the perpetrators are twelve-year-old girls and the victim one of their female school mates.

Whenever they kill off my favorite character in a show.
Makes me want to drop it immediately.

Anything from Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan and the final episode of School Days. Saya no Uta would probably be on my list if it were adapted into anime, but I personally wouldn't watch it. Just having a glimpse at the CGs and summaries of the VN convinced me it wouldn't be my kind of show. No offense at all to any fans of Saya no Uta though.

I was thinking of replying to this thread with those examples, but you beat me to the punch. Basically, most of the arc openers of the first season are extremely disturbing to yours truly

I still find one of the last scenes of School Days of cutting open the belly pretty 'memorable', the bad way. And Nice boat, i'll say.

Whoever thought making the Big Bad for Digimon Tamers something like the D-Reaper needs to recheck the show's demographic.

Any anime where with prior notice.....two beautiful cute girls kisses each other out of the blue disturbs me alot. It ruins my mood in continuing to watch an anime, for example... the two witches in Horizon... shit!

Gore is not all that disturbing to me. I'd be interested in scenes that make you feel uneasy, like you want to stop watching. I can't think of many animated examples, though.

I'm seconding Berserk. Manga takes it up a notch.

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin:
Spoiler:

Honorable mention goes to End of Evangelion:
Spoiler:

edit: Damn. I've put off reading Saya no Uta, but I just have to get around doing it since so many people are putting in a good word for it.

Going with Berserk's ending too. For me anything that involves violating a woman just drives me nuts. I can't stand it. Like Mayu's past in Elfen Lied.

A lot of this stuff is pretty tame compared to some of the 1990s stuff from studios like Madhouse and Production I.G.
