Sigh, it's not like the world would end if I don't get a chance to play beta

Brood lords are retardedly strong because they shit out so many broodlings, it horrifically screws up the AI for ground units. As toss, you really have to really keep the zerg in check with pressure so he doesn't have the economy for hive tech; if you let him expand and power a ton of drones, you will lose no matter what.
To actually kill them, only void rays are worth a damn. Stalkers, sentries, and other ground units can help fight their support units. Storm helps too.

You ll want to go air units for countering broodlord. They do massive dmg to land units especially if you let em get past more than 6 to 8 broodlords. Void Rays are your best bet against them though Phoenix works as well.

I wouldn't suggest Phoenix because they only do 6 damage to Brood Lords (thanks to the BL's 2 armor-- Phoneix's attack is 5dmg x2 attacks, each point of armor reduces damage from both attacks) and also have terrible range which means they have to get dangerously close. You really can't mass them preemptively either, since they are mostly useless against ground armies while at least void rays can damage ground units consistently and also be used against buildings.
But I guess if you have no air, and must get something to shoot at the brood lords a few would help. If the enemy has little antiair (unlikely) You could use graviton beam to take them out of the battle, or take the BL's out of battle temporarily. Or if he's supporting them with mutalisks..

Any1 know how to get hatcheries in one control group?
Also, I hear a lot about shift queing individual units to attack. Can any1 elaborate on that? Can you get a portion of your control group, like 8 roaches to attack one unit, and then get them to shift que attack attack another unit, while the rest attack something else? |

holding shift includes extra unit in a group, so click on the hatcheries while holding shift to select them in the same group, then put them in a control group.
unless you created a different control group for sub sets of your units, likely no unless your can micro select them in battle.

Finally get the beta key from someone in my country's SC2 community. Play random, pretty much win not so hard, including placement matches (although almost lost the first placement match with opponent's secret expo). But get myself handed by my fellow Thai player... (120 apm vs my 40 apm, not surprise why I lost...)
