As a programmer, I feel the need to point out a few things.
* "Whatever programming language was used to make this game" is completely irrelevant. In order for a computer to do anything with a program, it needs to be compiled into machine code to make the application. Not to mention the fact that Kirito wasn't actually altering the game's "code" in any way. * One of the few ways to alter things in a game at runtime is if the game is pre-equipped with some kind of console that can alter the game's resources rather than the game itself. It's not that much a stretch to assume that this "GM access console" is exactly such a console. * Such a console would work either: 1) Through a menu, in which case, to someone familiar with computers such as Kirito, it really wouldn't be that to figure out which menu item does what and figure out how to snatch up Yui's data and store it into an in-game item. 2) Through a command line interface, in which case it's slightly more problematic as you need to know which commands do what. However, modern command consoles almost always respond to the "help" command with a list of possible commands. Familiarity with Query Languages is the thing that helps in this case. And seeing how query languages are even more similar to one another than programming languages are, it really is not that hard to figure out. To make all this possible in such a short amount of time merely by randomly mashing the keyboard, that's Hollywood Hacking. Last edited by Dengar; 2012-09-23 at 06:29. Reason: spelling |

This is the first SAO that i gave a 10. Because it was perfect. It had fighting (and more dual wielding) it had romance, it had story development. It also had Kirito rage screaming "KAYABA!!!". That was nice. Very nice.
I think the fact that yui was "erased" was useful. I mean, it would upset the balance of the game a lot to have a Yui Ex Machina, isn't it? But i wonder, why does a level 1 town have a level INF dungeon and also a seemingly DM Monster (Infinite damage infinite hit points) in it. I can guess that maybe it was a kind of "testing" area for programmers of the game (or Kayaba). I think the overall Kirito- Asuna dynamic is progressing well, they seem so coordinated. Like when Yuriel asked them to help Asuna was "hey, fact check" and Kirito was "let's kick ass and worry later". It shows to very opposite world views that work good togheter. When Asuna decided to help Kirito (that weird "tri-wielding" is it even possible?) it showed that she is not only a "trophy wife" and she can kick ass and take names. Even if they were the ones getting their assed kicked and almost died.

You don't need to know much, GM commands are usually the same in MMOs (that is, they have similar or identical input method, name and effect) so it's not too surprising that Kirito managed to pull something in the nick of time...although it's a hell of a lot more complicated if he's isolating and extracting a segment of a specific game parameter :P
Anyway, it was an emotional moment so I don't care about that. Awesome episode, Kirito kicking frog ass and Asuna kicking frog legs, epic little girl with indestructible barrier and (admittedly) hax gear killing a LV?? reaper and lengthy tearjerking moments for dessert. Next episode, the edge of hell...must be good. |

That's why they refer to ther OTHER MMO hero Thrall as the "Green Jesus". Don't get me wrong, this is not a criticism. I love watching "perfect hero" assholes be badasses in their respective stories.

I just noticed something. When Yui was going through all the players in despair in that Matrix room... errr... monitor room, she mentioned that some have gone insane, while she was caressing the monitor of one girl. If that girl is still around, I'm guessing we will the insane girl at some point. Hmmm... she could be a very significant character, but I'm going to reserve my guesses on who she could be.

I understand what you're saying about wanting to see the characters fight the boss for themselves (though all indications are that it would have either ended in them running away or possibly someone getting killed), but the whole situation only existed because Yui was there in the first place. She was the actual subject of the episode all along.

As for Kibaou's henchmen, I'm guessing Kibaou once kicked out will just be mid-level road bandits. They seem to weak to do any real damage to anyone of significance.

Spoiler for Vol 2. -- Yui's Heart cut out detail -- Name of Yui's Greatsword:
(I should use this spoiler format more often. ) Anyway, you're seriously undermining the power of underage internet. Remember that there are 10,000 people in SAO at the start (Hey, in the Web Novels it was 40,000 *shrugs* ) which means possibly around 2,500 people are teenagers, ranging from say ... 8 to 18 years old. I know for a fact that I was one of those people. Even if ... say ... around 1% of that population are children, that's STILL a lot. (25). Quote:

I wish. Looking from how they treat their swords, it seems we'll never see Asuna or Kirito carrying BFS's.

They can still go out in the first field, and harass/kill low level players like the kids in that orphanage, while they try to hunt some rabbits and boars.

If they do that, I'm guessing the current army will try to put a stop to them. They do have to correct their past mistakes, i.e. past members.
