Sure looks like Miura-buchou and the Akagi siblings.
Good eye I must say.

Let me guess, she's secretly a fujoshi? I hope it's not that simple

I'm not all that young unfortunately

But I looked at the LN summaries meanwhile and it turned out to be quite a bit more cruel lol. I like it.

^While we're on the subject of Ayase, how much of a yuri yandere is she? I only have the summaries to go on

The impression I get is she's a somewhat mild yuri yandere, i.e. she doesn't carry a knife around or try to get physical with Kirino, but she IS quite protective of her and likes her a little too much?

I'd say not much at all. Ayase has one personality trait, and that is single minded stubborness. In every other respect she's a nice girl, but if you take the trait to the extreme, she can be like a zealot. Really don't think there's much implied between Ayase and Kirino, best friends, a lot of respect etc etc.

That's reassuring, thanks.

I'm going to take a different interpretation, from what I've read of the novels and other related media.

Ayase is to a point, obsessed with Kirino. And that leads her to her displays of extreme at times. She's a totally normal and nice person, but should you push those buttons relating to Kirino, she flips out. Not to say she's yuri for Kirino, but she does have the trappings of a jealous girlfriend when it comes to Kirino, and that's where the yandere stems from.

I agree with this. Or maybe she's just really close to Kirino (however you want to take that). It really shows when Kirino came back from the US and they reunited.

A better question is how did Ayase and Manami get close?

A very good question. I know Kyousuke introduced her to Manami in vol 2, but how they got to the level where she refers to her as 'Onee-san' is not as clear.

And how Minami got close with Kuroneko too.

Spoilers abound but this thread is enter at own peril right?

Kuroneko was never close with Manami. In fact she referred to her as the final boss (in the quest for Kyosuke? kekeke)

Ayase is basically a girl with strong values, and very stubborn about it. She's the type that once gets an idea just keeps going. Her personality was hinted at in various scenes:
When she told off Kanoko for asking for freebies
The parcel scene, she assumed good intentions beyind Kyosuke's actions (a gift for special occasions for Kirino only) and romanticised a trivial incident.
In the LN Ayase also requested Kyosuke to deal with Kanoko's smoking habits. It is difficult to express in anime but in the novel Kyosuke was absolutely terrified by Ayase because her single-mindedness. When Ayase sets about doing something, watch out world!

She has tremendous respect for Kirino because Kirino was a senpai in modelling. Her disappiontment at Kirino's hobby certainly shows her belief wins out her supposed 'yuri' for Kirino, because Kirino offered same importance in friends and hobby, but she wll not compromise on her hobby.

I kind of sad

I find bot that scene and the looking at porn at her notebook, at the very least, golden comedy scenes so I really think they will use it sometime later. For Kirino's response, it could be on ep6 beginning or end...

I kinda prefer it. Gets rid of the unecessary incest undertone.

The entire series is about the growing siblings' affection for one another. Though I do agree that if they left out the blatant incest joke, their growing relationship would be more fittingly gradual.
