Actually I think Hayate was talking about herself in the third person.

I really liked Thoma in this chapter. People complain about how he treats his fellow infectees but he perfectly outlines his position here.

Nice translation as always, and yeah the Grendels seems like a fun bunch xD

Spoiler for shit happens:

Ha! Knew it!

xD

EDIT: Hmmm... being more optimistic, being armed with a double set of Fortress & a Strike Cannon should at least allow Hayate to finally overcome her "long casting delay" issue isn't?

I have to say I`m impressed that Cypha always thinks of her mission`s objectives first and chose the hard, yet secured way to get Quinn`s divider back with her.
I can see why they are view as great mercenaries, it`s not just the powers after all.

Sonica : You were all proud and preachy around that boy.
It`s great that you can be so relaxed around that kid without embarassing yourself, huh ?
I`m not the only one thinking that. I`m telling you, sister complex.

Akiyoshi's correct xD
- Cypha was taking it easy cause Touma was there
- It's Quinn's divider xD

Yeah, but you can tell SS6 mentality is getting to him. When Kurt offered the deal to trade information (effectively dying) for his family's safety, and Thoma yelled "You're not that kind of character". Afterwards, seeing Kurt's earnest love for his family, he says "I have to save you too." I have to admit him saying those things annoyed me a bit. For one, he isn't in any position to be able of saving anyone. As far as idealist heroes, they give you this vibe of making you believe they can do it. Examples are Shounen heroes like Naruto and Touma(Index). Thoma doesn't give off that feeling.

Isn't it supposed to be the object of affection before complex, so brother complex. For example, Utao from Kamisama Dolls had a brother complex.

Not at all, considering what immediately followed said statement xD

*doing the "i knew it" dance*

But leaving my personal issues aside, what about the "Armor" mentioned by both Cypha and Sonica? Would that mean that Cypha truly went easy on Signum and that she posses yet another trick under her sleeve that she hasn't used yet o.o?

It's pretty much a staple for Nanoha heroines to say these kinds of things regardless of their actual apparent chances though.

I think the whole concept behind the exchange was that Kurt's essentially going "Dude, you can't help me, you can't save me."

Whereas that's exactly what Thoma was thinking a while back during the last battle between SS6 and the Huckebein family, which Nanoha proved wrong. To which Thoma tells him "Then I'll prove you wrong and save you."

At least, that's how I interpreted it.

On the other side i can't help but to be imrpessed by how Carter is so cool with dying and leaving things in charge of Maria, also showing how much he trust his comrades. Also i find funny how all of them agree on him being a "dumbass" but being willing to follow him nontheless, that kind of shows that Carter is more than meets the eye.

Pretty much, yeah. He's got some hidden depths, and it shows an element of unconventional family, one of the driving forces in Nanoha.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying he can't, just it's easy to say grand things like that, but almost impossible to do. A person shouldn't be careless with words to say on a whim. You can just as easy be faced with a harsher reality. Though with that reality, comes even greater wisdom:
- Know shame,
- Know humility,
- Know despair,
- Know pain, and
- Know thy own powerlessness

He's only going to hurt himself if he keeps making promises like that, when his own situation is unpredictable. Plus, he won't be the one trying to save the Grendals. Shamal will.

I think it was more Kurt not expecting to deal with TSAB that actually thinks of others, even the criminals. At first, he thought Thoma wanted him to live to keep his own work record spotless. Plus, the focus of what could endanger Kurt's life was the bomb, not the EC. Though he took precautions, he wasn't sure it was going to work.

Non other than the dashing leader of the Grendel family, Carter Grendel.

Carter sounds cooler than Kurt so i'll just keep calling him that xD
