Spoiler for OVA 2:

Main points:

The opening theme adds characters

This episode takes care of 2 seals.

Zelos and Sheena (or Shihna) appears.

They keep in Raine's (or Refill) mania for old stuff and her fear of water

Magnius appears and lays siege to the group. They escape thanks to Collete's (or Collet) angelic powers and Shihna.

Shihna attacks them afterwards but the mighty Kratos defeats her. She is spared and she leaves.

My thought: It won't just skip game stuff, but it is going to alter it. Not much to say... Decent episode.

Other note:

The manga ends at 5 volumes, but it also contains a "EX" volume which are side stories involving various characters like Seles.

I've only read Zelos' chapter, but it was great. It had the red snow part, etc. and Seles (whose hat is too big) and even had an ending epilogue with XX years later where Seles had left the containment place and is living at Zelos' house and Zelos, himself, had returned from a journey.

Even moreso now after DVD2, I wonder how far into the game the story will end. The storyline is not very far into the game's story at all. >.> There was no crazy timejump; the story picks up relatively soon after the end of DVD1. Like... maybe a day or two of travel later.

Otherwise it was an OK episode...I can see where the anime team is doing the best they can to condense so much material, but it just leaves me continually longing for a proper 24 episode series.

I do greatly appreciate that they kept raine/refills personality quirks intact though.

I really enjoyed this ep. The animation was well done and musics were good. Even tho it felt a bit rushed it was still good. Now I'm getting my hopes back up!

Well the fact they only have 4 episodes, they have to rush it a bit as the game was around 80 hours long

well plot wise it was around ~45 the rest was made up of side quests not really part of the main story. Who else made sheena loyd's soul mate when playing? haha

Ah I honestly think sheena might have been the very last character I tried to aim for highest affinity in all my playthroughs...I guess im just not as fond of busty ninja girls as others here are.

Im still holding out hope that genis uses some higher lvl magic...Or that will atleast get one unison attack.

OMG OMG me me!! i did it. Well mainly cuz sheena had a cuter personality than colette imo. Cept when sheena appears in the anime, she sort of loses her cuteness, which i mean, great that it shows she's not the same age as lloyd, but it kinda a bummer. But love the raine/refill moments as mentioned before also love...

Can't wait for the next ep. Was sheena and zelos always in the OP? If yes, then my guess is presea and regal might no appear since they're not in the OP. Let's hope i'm wrong

Since Presea and Regal's whole storyline is basically centered around Exspheres, and only Lloyd's Exsphere exists in the anime version, I'd have to agree that the two of them probably won't make an appearance.

I can kind of see how much stuff they are ripping out of the story, and while the OVA is still good, it just cannot be as in-depth and interesting as the original game.

Well what I mean is that

Kratos's betrayal in the early parts of the game OR Zelos's betrayal in the later parts of the game

Also animating some high lvl magic as many have mentioned would be really nice. Unison attacks would work too (By which I mean stronger ones than Cross Thrust )

I really, really, really wonder how they can tidily end this in 4 episodes. The ED animation is rather humorous.

Obviously deviating from the game, so I won't bother to say anything there.

The short fight scenes are pretty good. I especially liked the Shikigami's cutting wind slicing through the Desians.

Kvar looks SO evil in the anime adaption. He looked evil in the game and manga, but the anime has him look even more so.

It was interesting to see the Exsphere development chamber and the test subjects.
The most detailed monster transformation so far is shown in this episode, whereas the game had the people just flash, and the manga shows it partially (but well done so).

The last OVA probably will finish this side. No Tethealla or Regal or Presea.

Nevermind! Episodes 5-8 have, apparently, been announced! No release dates yet, and the info is unconfirmed (found out via Wikipedia), but still, that relieves a lot of questions I had about the series ending in 4 episodes.

edit: apparently it was confirmed on the commentary CD which came with OVA3. Yay!

There was really no way they could finish this ova series in 4 episodes, im glad they re extending it now
