Celts with their first ever road win this play-offs! Woots! They're gonna need all the momentum they can get against Detroit. I mean, I'm still baffled at how Detroit managed to pull off that win in game 2 when Boston's big three, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and KG all chipped in for a total of 75 points

Yup, only problem is it doesn't matter because the Lakers will dominate for a good 7-8 years now if they stay healthy.

Kobe/Pao/Bynum/Odum/Fisher are such a good core group of players and when you surround them with some good role players they are really just unstoppable. And Fisher is the only "old" guy everyone is still young.

That's why I'm rooting for Boston. The guys there are getting older, so I hope that they get one ring at least.

Think about this, guys.

Cassell and P.J. Brown are 38. Garnett's 32. Allen's going to be 33 soon. Pierce is 30. The big 3 also are past the big 30 (age). I hope they win this time around.

I also hope they won't win next year.

.

This is my prediction as well, I think the Lakers will win two of their 3 games at home.

WOW

And now the sh-t hits the fan.

Tim Donaghy has publicly alleged that there are other referees who have fixed games, including the 2002 Lakers-Kings Western Conference Finals Game 6 in which Lakers won, and then went on to win the championship.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3436401

Also, he alleges that the 2005 Rockets-Mavericks series was rigged.

Donaghy also states top league executives sought to manipulate games to boost ratings and ticket prices, including not to give technical fouls to certain players.

These are serious, serious accusations.

Donaghy may be trying to save his own skin, but you can not help but wonder.

That 2002 Lakers-Kings Game 6 was the worst officiating I've EVER seen. No referee can be that incompetent.

Game 4 of the Finals is probably one of the best comeback games I've ever seen.
Celtics now taking a commanding 3-1 lead.

That the reason I stopped following the NBA altogether, one thing is finding players using ways to enhance their performance (like MLB), but that you have the authorities inside the field set up for helping a prearrange outcome? This is going to Haunt NBA for decades, since some time, I cant follow an NBA game without skeptical eyes, I saw the first game of the finals hoping to see some improving in the whistle, but I have the notion most of the whistle were done in favor of Boston.

I guess David Stern needs more ratings to get more money, and creating Close games and dramatic game 7 is the best way to boost that. its really sickening.

I think Game 4 of the Lakers and Celtics series was the most fairest officiating I've seen compared to Game 2 & 3. Can't say anything about 1 since I vaguely remember that game now. And it's not just Boston, though, with the favor calls at home. A lot of home teams have gotten very favorable calls. Just look at the Hawks and Celtics series for example. Didn't the Hawks get a combine 80 free throws in Game 4 and 6? That's just massive.

Is everyone on this forum in agreement that the Jordan/Bryant comparisons can be put to bed for eternity? Does anyway honestly believe that a team with Michael Jordan on it would blow a 20 point lead with 5 minutes to go in the third quarter, in a must-win game during the NBA finals?

Seems to be done, unless Lakers do a miraculous comeback. Most likely not gonna happen.

I didn't want the Lakers to win after cheating all the other teams to get a lot, in return for nothing. They were great after the trade (and despite having Bynum out), but, I think Boston deserved the win. They were the better throughout the season and during the last portion of the playoffs. Additionally, they sacrificed a lot to get this result, and it is good to have them back. Now, it is time for the return of the Kings, oops, I mean, the Knicks.
