Suara
Does anyone here listen to Suara?
She does some anime/game OP/ED songs such as Musoka from Utawarerumono and Ichiban Boshi from ToHeart2. In my opinion, she's probably the best female anime/jpop singer. Her voice is very mature and her music style is unique but catchy. Here's a sample of Musoka if you haven't heard it yet.

Suara has a wonderful voice. There's sometimes a 'sad' and poignant quality to it - which is why I think her voice is so perfect for many 'bittersweet' anime.
I think my fave song she's done is definitely ''Blue'', the full version of Blue Drop's OP. Although the string arrangement for that song is also particularly excellent, so that obviously helps. I'm also very fond of ''Kimi ga Tame'', ''Seiza'', ''Musōka'' and ''Tsubomi - blue dreams''. Kimi ga Tame: |

The songs she sang for Utawarerumono, including the PS2 Opening, is what attracted me to her in the first places There are tons of great song in her Yumeji album, but those were some of the best

Yesteday I just got Suara's latest album, Taiyo to Tsuki, and Yumeji on SACD.
I have only listened to the SACD layer of both albums and I must say that the recordings are excellent on both. Better than most of the JPOP albums I have heard in recent years. Pure -Aquaplus legend of acoustic- still has the best sound quality out of all the Suara's album I've heard though. As for the songs themselves, right now I like the ones on Yumeji better. Though this might change as I listen to Taiyo to Tsuki a few more times. BTW somehow I think that Suara's live performance is sometime better than her CD recording... |

My personal favorite has to be musouka OP for utawarer, it amplifies the epiccness of the anime itself especially that ending pose in the opening |

Right now my favourite song would be Kimi ga tame. Her life performance of this song at Animelo Summer Live 2007 was spectcular (but too bad that the sound quality of the DVD sucks ).
Other songs that I like are Musouka, Kimi dake no tabiji (PS2 Utawarerumono OP), Moonphase (the bonus track on Yumeji SACD) and memory (Tears to Tiara ED). But in general, I like almost all her songs. The arrangements on the Pure album are also not bad too. I hope that in the future they will continue to release her albums in SACD or other high quality formats. |

Somehow I don't really enjoy the Pure album.. maybe it's the arrangement that doesn't suit my taste.
Indeed Taiyou to Tsuki is a great album, purchased it with no questions asked. She's really a treat for audiophile's ears. Agreed that Animelo 2007 DVD quality sucks, I hope they will do better for Animelo 2008, because she was really outstanding, heck I'd say she was the best singer that night (putting aside my bias on Mizuki Nana). She performed "haunting melody" and the debut song "seiza" (from amane uta). She was really cute in person too. <3 |
