You could start of with Photoshop CS but I would recommend CS3 better.

Or CS4 if your PC can handle it.

It has a lot of nice improvements compared to the CS3 (not to mention it now supports graphics acceleration and 64-bit systems).

i made a new siggy, and avvie. its not really great. anyway, PS cs4 is a really big file. i will buy it next week when i get my money.

is Cs2 good?? i think i saw a torrent of it. i could just download it instead of buying. im really having a hard time doing backgrounds and such. i don't really don't know much on how to use the brushes, i only know how to use the click and effects thing. hehehehe.

I haven't experience using CS2, I jumped from 7 to CS3.

You can search for tutorials on photoshop like abstracts and effects. That's where I start off.
