Yep, a fun chapter, indeed. Looks like my spoiler summary was slightly off, though (since Toriko's target was vinegar, not booze). Also, I dunno about anyone else, but I'm pretty glad that we learned Toriko's age this chapter (good to know that he's an adult, and not a teenager like 90% of shounen heroes

). And lol at Jirou's comment about hanging out at booze island for 8 days a week.

As I figured, he's pretty aware of the situation going on at the GW after all. Really makes me wonder when he'll get involved in that conflict, as well....

I figure it would be hella weird if Toriko was 14, because:
a) he smokes
b) he drinks
c) he has kissed one of the few girls in the whole story
d) he owns a house, or multiple houses, in a way...
e) He's got more muscles than muscle-man, he's friggin' HUGE! Can you imagine THAT being any less than 25?
f) Forgot to mention he gambles too...

It would have been typical lol Japan if Toriko was a young age. Understandable that he's over 25.

I'm pretty sure we got profiles or something for Toriko and Komatsu at some point giving their age, as I already knew they were both 25. Apparently it's one of those easily missed things though, given the author felt the need to explicitly state their ages.

^It's probably best to not think too deeply about that.

And at the very least, Toriko and Komatsu can just eat those poop plants to lessen the effects of their binge drinking.....

One would usually question whether or not it is safe to drink an island of over 40% vol. booze in a day, for three days straight. Technically, consuming 3 liters of alcohol is instant death, so go figure how safe THAT was

Of course, Toriko and Jirou have their gourmet cells evolved properly to accommodate large amounts of...anything, but what about poor Komatsu?

BTW, back to the character age thing: I went sniffing around and yes, found out that Toriko and Komatsu's ages WERE known for a while. It's because they were shown in the volume releases first. And for the record, we got the ages of the other kings and various other characters, as well:

There were actually more character profiles than that, but all of them have their ages listed as "unknown" (obviously these were for big-name characters like Jirou, Ichiryuu, Setsuno, the higher-ranked Bishokukai guys, etc.). I'm actually pleasantly surprised that most characters are adults (I sorta wasn't expecting Zebra to be the same age as Toriko and Komatsu, though.... I figured he'd be a few years older). Hmm, that's what I get for ignoring the volume releases, I guess. Gotta pay more attention to those from now on....

I'm more like suprised that Komatsu is at the same age as Toriko since he looks really younger than any character in this series but that also show the fact that we shouldn't judge book by looking their outer appearance of course. Anyways I wonder how old Setsuno is. It's obvious that she is more than +100 or maybe +150 years old just like IGO present. And also Midora should be younger than Ichiryuu because there were big brother and younger brother conservation took place when they faced together in Midora's HQ. Anyways things looks fun as always and can't wait to read next chapter.

^The only time I recall Toriko showing any interest in a woman was when he and Komatsu fell under the pheromone spell of the warden of Honey Prison. Outside of that, I can't really think of anything else. Otherwise, all we've got is Rin clinging to him whenever she's around....

...Actually, speaking of Love (the prison warden), she's one of those characters I mentioned before whose profile had her age listed as "unknown".

marvelB Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005	The next gourmet hunt commences: Spoiler: Toriko meets up with Teppei, who tells him of an ingredient known as the "Dodorian Bomb" Apparently it's the world's stinkiest ingredient, and was even used as a powerful weapon during an ancient war. However, the smellier it is, the better it tastes, so Toriko wants to add it to his Ehou Maki. He and Komatsu hunt down the fruit and discover a ripe one, but when it falls from the tree, its scent is so powerful that people all over the world can smell it (amusingly, Zonge's the only one not affected by the smell! ) The duo then manage to collect their stinky prize.... Heh, so now we've got super durians now, do we? But I wonder when Toriko is going to search for Joa and discover the secret behind removing that potato's poison....?
