Well, other then Abyss this is a second time for me to like both main male and female character design. Don't know about their personality but for now they really seem likable. Damn, I hope it gets released, I don't mind waiting for 2-3 years. As long as Namco doesn't fallow Square's route and puts 3D dolls as portraits (aka Star Ocean) for the English release.

To tell the truth, in this case I prefer the 3D models than the 2D illustrations.

Btw, isn't SE only a publisher for Star Ocean?

More like Bamco hates to make money overseas. Whenever they decide to bring a mainline game other than Soul Calibur overseas, they get very, very lazy.

Huh? The portraits could be changed from options to 2D-anime ones...Well at least, in Star Ocean International you could.

Normally, I wouldn't agree with you but Xillia has an awesome character design so in-game models might actually work. Those from Star Ocean were little emotionless and wooden for my taste...

Eh, I think you're right, my bad. I saw interviews from Square a few months ago regarding differences among English speaking audience and Japanese. They think we like more of a macho type characters then those girly anime heroes. So my comment was based on that.

Really? I'm guessing you could switch to Japanese audio as well? But yeah, those options weren't available for Xbox360 version.

  • Tales of Innocence
  • Tales of Hearts
  • Tales of the Tempest
Not to mention all the versions that didn't get an international release, starting with Tales of Symphonia for PS2.

Those are all handheld DS games, not console games.

The titles still got released. Individual versions did not, but the titles did.

Tales of Destiny 2, Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut, and Tales of Rebirth. Eternia was released as Destiny 2 in the States and Namco never bothered to correct it. The Destiny remake is so vastly different from the original that it might as well be considered a new game. Tales of Rebirth was just never localized.

Still released, and also before Symphonia.

Even if it's vastly different, it's still another version of a previously released game. So the title, Tales of Destiny, was still released.

Tales of Rebirth
Already specified that as an exception.

*rolls eyes* Yeah. That's generally why they're called handhelds.

Honestly, sometimes I really wish another publisher like Atlus, or Xseed would bring this series over instead dealing Bamco's constant BS.

It was thier own fault as much as anyone else. It was HARD to find it [Vesperia] in the UK, I mean, really hard. I went through all the major (and many minor) retailers in the UK to find a copy (and I'm talking online).

I know several friends who used to work in retail, and I think one of them saw it once; on release and never saw any more copies.
I've only ever seen it once in retail, preowned.

It's my favourite JRPG on the 360; but I tell you, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people missed it, simply because it was so hard to find after the initial release. It's not like Europe is a tiny market either; but we have it even worse than the US. I would have bought the expanded PS3 edition if it'd been released too.

If this makes it over here, I'll probably grab it, but if I can't even GET a copy; then that's a sale Namco have instantly lost.

I believe it was mentioned that Atlus and XSEED wanted to bring 'Tales of' over, but Bamco disallowed it.

Apparently the logic was that the "Tales Of" franchise has very tight brand name association with Bamco as a mothership Bamco title, and they're not going to risk any localisation company who are not themselves mess with it.

Even if it meant them not ever bothering to release anything at all.

Well, there is an anime for like four of the series. Eternia, Phantasia, Symphonia, and the Abyss. Plus a prequel movie for Vesperia.

Also, Jude's outfit reminds me of Zanma Gou from Daibanchou.
