I also noticed this.... If somehow Johan dragged Reiji Maigo from Yuji.. then, Yuji will disappear??? if it's correct, then Johan will be the one who can deal instant kill and bring instant win to Flame Haze's side... lol

I think one of the reasons why Johan didn't wake up completely in season 2 was because he also needs the Reigi Maigo to survive (Johan is also a torch). Since he gave it back to Yuji, it might imply that Johan is planning to die himself. Maybe that is why Pheles didn't want to obey Johan's request.

If Johan had taken the Reigi Maigo, I think Yuji would disappear, but it would probably take a very long time since he has an enormous amount of existence since he merged with god.

Both Yuji and Johan are torches. So both can't continue to exist without the Reiji Maigo. If Johan would have taken the Reiji Maigo from Yuji, he wouldn't have disappeared right away. He'd grow weaker and people would start forgetting him bit by bit until his power of existence runs out.

Now that Johan seems to have left Yuji without taking the Reiji Maigo with him, I'm guessing Johan is indeed planning something that involves him dying. Pheles tried her best to ignore Johan's orders after all. Only a 'miracle' would make her do it.

Johan just told Yuji that you can't make your loved one unhappy though. So I guess they have some kind of plan. I don't think he'll just like disappear like that. That would make Pheles unhappy after all. Since Pheles gave Wilhelmina that apologetic look and told her 'I'm sorry' when they saw each other, I'm guessing that Pheles and Johan are going to do what they've planned for before disappearing (dying) together.

I wonder why though. I was under the impression that his PoE was being constantly refilled within the Reiji Maigo. Was Johan's existence slowly disappearing within the Reiji Maigo or something? But even then, just taking back the Reiji Maigo should have been a good option as well. He would have been able to live together with Pheles again.

Since he just gave Yuji a lecture about love, does this mean that he 'gave' the Reiji Maigo to Yuji for some reason? Maybe because he saw the love Yuji had for Shana? Or maybe because Yuji is truly aiming to for humans and tomogara to coexist? He was a human too when he fell in love with Pheles after all.

I wonder what they've got planned.

No, I meant the debate over what his intentions were, there actually wasn't a physical confrontation, more like a lot of pulling instead.

Just so everyone was aware, the Johan dialogue was awfully tricky. It made it seem like Yuji loves Shana. But be aware, it is much deeper in meaning! I have taking the efforts to decipher exactly what he and Yuji meant in their discussion of love~

Spoiler for Yoshida <3 Yuji:

the hell was up with the 2nd eyecatch?

anyways... "chaotic" and cheesy episode indeed, but a surprisingly entertaining one at that.
something that this series has been missing for a while (the entertainment factor)

Shana uses the ring, Corde, loaded with the spell of Taimei Shihen. What is Taimei Shihen in this context and how did she learn this spell? For all I know, Taimei Shihen is the Psalm of Grand Order and is strongly related to the awakening of the body of the Snake of the Festival. Still, I could be wrong about this.

I just do not know why Khamsin needs to escort them leaving the city. After all, they comprise 3 members of Hyakki Yakou, Pheles and Johan, and should be strong enough to protect themselves.

In my opinion, the minivan is not a rinne. He is Gyuuki, a Crimson Denizen and the leader of the Hyakki Yakou. Furthermore, he is last seen as a man with the beard in Episode 16.

Also, JC Staff sure loves dem falcon punches...

Yup from the movie...

...No need to fork out a brand new song, it's only Yoshida (kidding kidding )

Speaking of songs, the new ED has really grew on me, I would even go so far as to say it's my most favorite ED of the series Sigh, ten more days till the single releases...

Yeah, nice song.

Never imagined they would use that song in the anime, since it was only used in the movie until now.

There's some truth to what Dahak86 wrote.

As much as I've largely enjoyed Shana III, I did miss some of the unpredictable "chaotic" action scenes and confrontations of the two previous Shana seasons. Almost everything in Shana III has been very well-executed, but the overall narrative has progressed in a fairly straightforward manner since around the time Shana escaped from Bal Masque quite a few episodes ago.

So this episode was the perfect time to bring in a welcomed, unpredictable "X Factor" in powerful highly independent agents in Pheles and Johan. That did a lot to spice up the Shana & Wilhelmina vs. Yuji & Sydonay fight, as great as the first few minutes of it was anyway (truly glorious visuals on JC Staff's part there with Shana's raging at Yuji).

With this in mind, the conversation between Yuji and Johan was very interesting

"I'm going to blow away this moment you guys had."- Johan Ha ha ha ha!!! I have to admit I loved how Yuji kind of "got told" and upstaged by the showboating romantic Johan there, lol.

It was also particularly nice to see Shana briefly put aside the entire broader fight out of concern over Yuji losing his Reigi Maigo. Having characters conflicted over multiple and somewhat contradictory goals is something that this anime series has done very well, and I think it adds a certain dynamism and realism to everything.

I also liked how several important secondary characters (including Pheles and Johan) truly shined in this episode.

This episode struck me as Kazumi Yoshida's finest hour. I have to also give JC Staff credit for the way they drew and animated her in some scenes. Kazumi had a real aura and mystique about her in this episode, not to mention some added hotness, to put it bluntly. With the way Kazumi was presented in this episode, I'm starting to think that Kristen had the right idea all along!

And wow... my boy Dantalion, do you ever come prepared! You should be making mechs for the entire Principality of Zeon with that sort of talent, and what an incredible refitting of the big tower. Dantalion is starting to seem like a match for Sonic the Hedgehog's Dr. Eggman. Also have to love the "Shining Fist" nickname. Looks like Dantalion and Steins;Gate's Okabe Rintaro also have naming schemes in common, not simply the whole "mad scientist" motif.

And yeah, the whole minivan crashes the big fight and makes off with the two lovers and Kazumi's magically floating body was so wondrously lolzy. Good to see that the Shana anime hasn't lost its hilariously zany spirit even amidst all the epic drama and warfare.

So, 10/10 for this episode! I did find it a bit hard to follow in some places, but it's standout strengths more than made up for it.

In fact, if there's any Shana episode that really showcases all of the various strengths that makes this series as great as it is, it's this one. It somehow managed to bring them altogether.

Really looking forward to the next episode!

My reaction when the JohanxPheles Mystery Machine came around.

BAKA PUUUUUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Yuji's only weakness by the way)

This episode is tempting me to make a fanfiction of it... Also, when Akai Namida started playing (which I wasn't expecting at all) the epic scale just upped 50%.

Spoiler for Seriously??????:

Gyuuki is only the framed mask/arms that grabbed Yoshida. He somehow manages to synchronize with Para's rinne. But he isn't the rinne itself, he also cloaks the minivan, which is one of his Jizaiho.

Baka punch:
Base power 120. Uses the power of love. Super effective against dense male leads.

That post kind of summed up my feelings. This episode has all the elements which makes this show as interesting as it is. Especially the comedic factor had been lost for some time now. Good to see it back.

The war was indeed interesting, but that's mostly because the story moved forward. Most of the arc was pretty predictable and lacked emotion and character interaction. The flame haze and tomogara were acting like emotionless soldiers who were only listening to orders and couldn't really think for themselves. We got some nice moments from Centerhill and Samuel, but that's about it. The only emotional moment between Yuji and Shana during the war was when they were fighting within the rift and Shana declared her love for Yuji. This was a nice moment though.

So it's good to see that the characters are back to normal during this battle. They're all fighting for their own reasons and that makes this battle much more personal and unpredictable.

I really enjoyed the comedy as well. Everyone was seriously surprised at Shana's emotional outburst and I have to laugh at seeing Yuji's reaction to it. He was like 'OH SHIT!!'. Got to love Yuji asking Sydonay for advice on the matter as well.
