Well the last time he "died" he only had his memories destroyed, what if by saying the "second time he died" it really meant he perhaps regained his memories or reverted to some former state. Because in the beginning it looked like he actually knew a lot more about the Imagine Breaker, since he did state he can stop a miracle of god, and I thought the people (for the most part) in Academy City did not believe in god. How would the previous Touma know it can stop a miracle of god then?

There's a difference between being Naive, and being optimistic.

I would think that nobody after going through a war first hand, can be called naive.

I think index was saying something about God and then Touma said it can even destroy that

Seeing how he was used by AC and Necessarius from volume 2 to 22 without even noticing thing, he is either blind or naive.

If i remember correctly Kami-yan still got his five senses. So I can only think of the naive part.

I mean, for him to win a trip to Italia. We're talking about Mister Misfortune, no way it can really happens aside the upside down man changes the draw or the sexy super lucky Saint of the far East plays to the raffle with his name.
That's only one, but when coupled with every little thing that happened during those 21 volumes, it's not optimism anymore.

Erm, where are you getting that from? I'm pretty sure he's know he's being used by Necessarius because you know, Stiyl told him outright? The whole, stay useful or we'll kill you and take away Index? Not to mention every incident involving magic side there's a Necessarius agent 'waiting' around the corner to fill him in.

Also now that you specifically mention it, if you look back at the Italian Arc, he was totally expecting something to go wrong all the way, claiming that his bad luck would never allow him. The reason why he still went was because he's still hopeful that just maybe he would have a good time.

He's said it himself. He helps necessarius for index only. Not the other way around. As for AC, No one knew. Even necessarius didn't know that they were used by AC.

Both, Academy City and the Anglican Church knows both are using Touma as a pawn. So, its just mutual.

I've noticed there's quite a number of background information regarding various minor details being revealed in New Testament through the News, given the author's style, I wonder how many of them are actually foreshadowing?

Spoiler:

1. Anti-Skill transporting a major criminal through the same place Hanzou and Fremea was attacked.

2. Most countries accepting Academy City even though its belligerent interactions had been one of the things that led to World War 3. This was because Academy City had paid out large amounts of money to pay for reconstruction after the war.

3. A conspiracy theory about Academy City altering the balance of power in how they regulated the balance of the funds they gave out.

4. The weapons not needed now that the war was over being transported to Districts 2 and 23.

5. Reorganization of the Roman Catholic Church that included the top position of pope changing from Matthai Reese to Pietro Yogdis.

6. "The United Nations threw the piece into some parts of the Pacific ocean that lack oxygen, and even though they did process it and used it to change the oxygen supply in the ocean, and also revive the supply of fish and other kinds of seafood, I do think that there’re other motivations for them to throw them without investigating them…”

I think only point 4 and 5 would have a surprise impact later...

Accel, Shiage and Hanzou trashed the rest of the 10 Suits. The Gatling Railgun can fire over 4,000 shots per minute, and each shot is more powerful that Mikoto's. The AI sucked though, as when Shiage and Hanzou used a box full of lightbulbs to fool its sensors thinking that if it destroys that it'll be showered in radiation and cease function.
The Suit also has twin scythes and wings, like a praying mantis.

Kuroyoru inputed Kihara's vector value when he broke through reflect, and was going to use that trick to pierce Accel with her ability. Accel was just a decoy though, and Shiage with Hanzou broke off the Gatling Railgun from those FiveOver suits and shot Kuroyoru with it.
Accel got careless and was about to leave with Shiage without checking if Kuroyoru is really KOed. Kuroyoru decides that if she's going down she's going to take Fremea with her, and launched her strongest attack at Fremea. Touma comes in and saves her at the last minute.

Touma says he came back because Academy City plans to continue the War against the Magic Side even though it has 'officially' ended. Touma was explaining about Magic to Accel and Shiage, and says he's not going to just let it go even if he's part of AC, then got kicked in the balls by Bardway.
Bardway is saying Touma's preaching is boring her to tears, and he better start thinking about how to apologise to her and let her do the talking. (My previous thought about how Bardway is telling Touma to start thinking about the 'girls he made cry' was a mistranslation, sorry ^.^; )

It turns out Bardway's group was the one that fished him out of the Arctic Ocean. She says to Accel and Shiage;

"I'm Leivinia Bardway of the 'Dawn-coloured Sunlight'. As you can see, my profession is the Boss of a Magic Cabal... Welcome to the entrance of a new world, ignorant children of Science."

-The theme of this volume is 'techniques that has surpassed the limits of Science'

So does this mean that the [Freshmen] have been defeated? Or is this the case of "I'm actually the WEAKEST member of 4/5/6/7/10/12 !"



Twelve years old must be a hard time for a girl to be- between Bardway and Kuroyoru, you would think it's a dangerous time to raise a girl >.>

Interesting, so for New Testament, Academy City would be the main enemy? Well at least not the entire city, but the dark side that intends to fight magic. Well as long as Hyouka and the Imaginary Number district exist, Academy City would always have that proverbial gun to the Magic side's head.



But I wonder if Touma knows that Necessarius is also making their own preparations for war?



And all of a sudden, what is Bardway's stake in all this? To take out both Academy and Necessarius? Wouldn't put it past her...

WHAT THE HELL?! Was he under the impression that Index had alot of focus in the last 22 (+2) volumes ?!

Mikoto's still Limited by the Parameter List? If that's not a subtle hint, I don't know what is. But I don't see how she's being limited by that list if she has already reached Level 5.

Isn't the parameter list a list of espers and their maximum reachable levels + power in that level? (note: two espers don't have the same power on the same lv, eg kuroko and awaki)

That means Mikoto can't go above it even if she wants, because in toaru "hard work" not = "higher power", only the curriculum can increase power (*1). If she already reached the max potential stated there, she can't advance. Even if she is a level 5, there is a huge gap between her powers and n1 or n2 powers, and due to the fact that her potential ends where she is now, she can't fill the gap in power.

note 1 - accel didn't "increased" his powers during entire index series (i don't count awakening), just found new ways how to use his powers.

I can't wait for Touma to meet Index. Now that she knows that Touma actually lost his memory, I wonder how this will affect the two of them.
