Have you bothered asking instead of assuming? I think I already mentioned this to you a couple times already, please do not assume other people's thoughts.

That relationship was a mess, it was handled badly and ended badly. It did not have anything to do with "chance meeting of two soldiers from opposing sides", never mind that ORB wasn't exactly opposite of anything, but the way it progressed and the way it died almost without a wimper!

So once again, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?

What's with the defensive tone? Don't blame me for interpreting something that's obviously an expression of dislike or being baffled. I mean, my "assumption" is right in the end. You don't like the relationship and how it ended up, generally speaking.

It's not really a mess during SEED. But it gets complicated & messy in Destiny when Cagalli has to lead her country against the Seiran family (and sometimes the Sahaku, if you read the Astray manga). Realistically speaking, such relationship can easily spiral out of control or degrading. Especially when Cagalli saw Athrun decided to be a ZAFT pilot again against the Orb. Of all the bad writing in Destiny, the messy relationship between Athrun & Cagalli is actually pretty realistic.

Please don't ask us to open that can of worms again. Do you know how many times the mods had to interfere when people are debating about such baseless rumors which mostly derived from mistranslation & biased interpretation of interviews?

Why should I not act defensive when I am wrongly interpreted? Yeah, dislike and baffled for different reasons than what you thought it was. Your 'assumption' was only half right. Why? Because I like the relationship and approve of it, but it was handled like crap and ended badly.

After returning to ORB, Athrun could have attempted to repair the relationship. Sure, Cagali was in a complicated position, but after Yuna was arrested and the Seiran subdued, she was more or less the sole most powerful figure in that organization. There was very little obstacle before them, if any. Except Destiny had none of it. Their relationship received next to no coverage upon Athrun receiving the Infinite Justice and it seemingly died almost without a wimper.

So once again x3, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?

^ I don't know about you, but I can easily see Cagalli having enough of Athrun after he joined the side that obliterate Orb's forces (thanks to Shinn) that Cagalli loves so much. Obviously, there's still love in her but maybe the heartache overtook it. And their relationship is still unresolved anyway. It's not like one of them went off and married someone else.

Well, show it. Show Athrun having a bit of remorse for doing what he did, or having Cagali showing that she still has love in her. None of these were covered in Destiny.

Also, this whole situation gave rise to that weird trend with Kira Yamato. Ever noticed all of the women Kira came across were fiances of someone else initially, who eventually left their original betrothed? It would appear Cagali is not immune to this.

Honestly, after Destiny's climax, there are a lot of ways their relationship can go sour. It doesn't take much imagination to fill in the blanks.

I actually like that. Chad-Kira stealing other men's women . That's a refreshing trait for an MC.

Well, like others have said, it's entirely baseless and since we don't have many japanese experts here, and keep in mind it was back in 2005, so for sure it will have many mistakes, so just take it with a grain of salt:

Gossip is that cagalli's seiyuu was at odds with Fukuda, so that's why she did not have a line anymore after episode 40, 42?? And Shinn's seiyuu supported Cagalli's seiyuu, so that's why destiny gundam got butchered

Well, whatever my concerns about Fukuda and the writing of Destiny, I can understand how strongly he must feel producing a work based on one of the last things his wife ever wrote.

I always felt interchangeable wings would’ve been great for sf. It’s standard ones limit it’s performance in the atmosphere due to not being able to use the dragoons or the WoL. Some examples could be to have wings akin to Destiny’s that can use the WoL anytime. Wings like the original Freedoms to give him a few extra canons.

I just hope beyond hope that whatever SEED anime that they'll make can give proper screentime for Rondo Mina Sahaku (and her space fortress, Ame-no-Mihashira). She's basically CE's version of Haman Karn but more noble & kind, which is fun

^I thought her role was completed/finished in the manga Princess of the Sky. I mean she did find her successor, Lath, who became the new head of the house of Sahaku. The ending felt like a closure for her character.

Seems like she would be less important in the future CE universe than before.

^ I'm okay with a flashback of her roles during all of SEED/Destiny. Heck watching her fighting her twin brother, Gina, would've been great. What matters is, I want to see her animated in a legit anime, not just games .

Pfft, Mina had much bigger roles than Shiho. She's prettier, had more personality & had one of the coolest Gundams in CE.

And Lacus already had too much screentime. Worse still, she spent much of her Destiny screentime as a babysitter while Mina was kicking ass somewhere else.

I would have to say Astray series is the best Gundam manga there is out there. I'm hoping we can get another Astray manga because of GUNDAM SEED PROJECT ignited.

One movie is not going to 'redeem' Shinn. Foundation for Shinn as a character was not steady to begin with. Thus, when Kira took off with good ol' Freedom, the die was cast, and the rest was history.

As I mentioned over a decade ago, I'd be lying if I watched Seed Destiny and not expecting to see more of Kira & Lacus.

If Destiny broke Shinn down, then the follow-up (possibly the movie) could be about rebuilding/redeeming him by having him mentored by Kira; it could mirror the Kamille-Amuro relationship in Zeta.

He'll start by piloting the Destiny Impulse, and later on, he'll upgrade to the Destiny's spiritual successor, preferably a transformable Gundam (unless transformable Gundams remain Athrun's property).
