Light is sometimes portrayed more positively in the anime than the mange. Especially the ending.

The reason he couldn't do this is because of cource the ruling of the notebook itself. Light must know the name and face of the holder of the notebook as I'm sure you are aware of, but in addition to this, if what is writen is completely ludicrous then they will just die.

They already made "L changes the world" for the spin off live action thing. So I wouldn't be surprised if they did make another anime

A second season, or rather a spin-off, would be great chance to chronicle the dectective wars that elevated L to the statis of World Greatest Dectective. I would most certainly watch said series if it was to made and it would put L back in the spot light his untimely death so wrongly stripped him of in addition to giving us more insight into his character.

There was a videogame where you play a young L investigating an unrelated mystery, I think...

Especially since the creators don't want Light to win. It would just be drawing it out and dissapointing his fans.

That isn't true, sure the book made him look crazy, but the anime made him look worse.

I kind of think the anime went a little bit too far with it, though.

I mean, when you get down to it, he is a crazed psycho, in both the anime and the manga. He practically fits the textbook definition of psychopathy down to a T.

Consider this list of common symptoms (remember, not all will be present in all cases; a majority in this list would be enough to make psychopathy a possible diagnosis):

Grandiose sense of self-worth
Superficial charm
Criminal versatility
Reckless disregard for the safety of self or others
Impulse control problems
Irresponsibility
Pathological narcissism
Pathological lying
Shallow affect
Deceitfulness/manipulativeness
Aggressive or violent tendencies, repeated physical fights or assaults on others
Lack of empathy
Lack of remorse, indifferent to or rationalizes having hurt or mistreated others
A sense of extreme entitlement
Lack of or diminished levels of anxiety/nervousness and other emotions
Promiscuous sexual behavior, sexually deviant lifestyle
Poor judgement, failure to learn from experience
Lack of personal insight
Failure to follow any life plan
Drug and alcohol abuse

Pretty much the only ones he doesn't fit are the last two and the sexual one. Everything else in that list describes him exactly, to the point where it seems hard to avoid the conclusion that the author designed his character with his psychopathy in mind.

Certainly, at the very least, he suffers from Narcissitic Personality Disorder, which is often considered a spectrum of psychosis:

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

has a grandiose sense of self-importance
is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
believes that he or she is "special" and unique
requires excessive admiration
has a sense of entitlement
is interpersonally exploitative
lacks empathy
is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

He comes off as human in both, but that is because a psychotic is still human. He also comes off as a terrible human in both. Some of the flaws caused by his psychopathy are obvious, but one or two things in particular bear looking at, especially his impulsiveness and lack of personal insight.

At first glance neither of those would apply, but in fact, they're two of his most fatal flaws. Consider his answer to Ryuk's question very early on, when Ryuk notes that if he follows through on his plan, he'll be the only person with a bad personality left in the world, say -- or, more importantly, his frequently rash decisions where L is involved (if he wasn't obsessed with killing L or showing up the FBI agents, say, Light would never have been in any danger at any point in the series.)

He has a superficial understanding of the people around him that makes it easy for him to manipulate them, and his good upbringing and brilliant mind let him make plans... but he totally lacks any genuine self-insight (he defines himself in utterly superficial terms to Ryuk), he never really looks at himself and analyzes why he's so determined to get L, and partially as a result of this he is prone to occasional rash actions that he should have been smart enough to know were stupid, if he'd taken the time to think about them.

im watching the anime im at ep 25 so pls no spoiler after this one :P but i would like to see wich of the 2 ppl favor i consider that most ppl watch the anime bcs of the intriguing new adition to the world of manga and anime a death note , the ability to kill at will to judge , death gods , power but i wana know of the 2 main characters who do you prefer or better said where you ever on psycho light's side i myself even tho i watch the anime i only like it because of the amazing way the story is put and the complexity of the o f the psychological story line also the anime is really good even L who's a little weird is interesting and well drawn
