Easy - Nuriko from Fushigi Yuugi, Kazuki from Get Backers, and Beramode from War of Genisis (not anime but should be fairly famous).

Ed I could tell was a girl, but I can understand why you would mistaken her gender.

Ruby Moon is neutral...but she does use a feminine appearance so I'm going to stick with female (same probably goes for Envy from Full Metal Alchemist as male).

CCS had lots of gay characters, and many non male or females characters
for instances the cards, which were spirits and beings without GENDER

For me, I would have to say Kisaragi Shun from Koko wa Greenwood. I honestly thought he was a girl at first and was like damn, Kazuya's new dorm roommate is a girl, lucky him I guess. Boy was I wrong. I should have figured that there is no such thing as co-ed dorms in japanese schools though.

Kisaragi Shun from Koko wa Greenwood was a tough one but it became obvious after a few seconds without seeing another female student in the dorms. ^^;

/me wants hanakimi manga...and would be absolutely happy if they made it into an anime - not likely though, since the manga went up to 20 volumes in Japan and I don't think they start to animate stuff that's been in manga form for that long and still hasn't been animated

Yoroi Mikoto from "MuvLuv" You are introduced to him in "Akane Maniax" and "MuvLuv" (Extra Chapter) as a guy, and he says he is male. But in the Unlimited Chapter of "MuvLuv," Yoroi Mikoto wears a female uniform...and her name is spelled in a more feminine kanji. Then, is Yoroi Mikoto in the Extra Chapter also actually female? Well, towards the end of the Extra Chapter, Takeru and Mikoto take an onsen bath together and it is hinted that Mikoto may perhaps be female...

The only way we'll know is when age released "MuvLuv Alternative" which hopefully (and I highly doubt) gets released sometime this year.

A few people from Gravitation you could easily mistake for a different gender.

I thought that Integral from Hellsing was a male for a while, until someone mentioned that she was female.

And Ed from Cowboy Bebop. She had that girly voice but she always acted funny.

Okay that guy w/ the pig in PeaceMaker Kurogane. The guy that ed that red head boy out of the water and then later almost beat the shit out of in a fight. Lol I know I was convinced myself that she's a male and has breast implants or something.

The more episodes I watch finally convinced she's female. Even her VA is female also, she just has deep voice. Me so confused. >_<
