To be exactly, use a darker shade of blue like Navy , even though red is more badass, when done right blue can be as well....

... Think of it like Ichigo's aura, the whole black within blue kinda thing.

I was but it's for the Index fanmade RPG. Im helping color and some other people are helping so when someone uses a strong attack the colored pictures pop up. Red is like you say, more bad-ass.

I also gave the following idea.
